THE RABBIT WAS PARKED A FEW YEARS AGO WHEN THE LONG TIME OWNER WAS NO LONGER FIT  TO DRIVE.. IT HAS SAT UNDER A COVERED CARPORT SINCE.. THE CAR DROVE 100% AT THE TIME..

THE CAR REALLY IS IN NICE SHAPE FOR BEING 32 YEARS OLD. IT IS A FLORIDA CAR SO, THE BODY IS VERY VERY NICE.. ALL BODY PANELS ARE STRAIGHT, PAINT IS SHINY AND THERE IS ONLY ONE SPOT WHERE THERE IS RUST, THAT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE PILLAR BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND PASSENGER DOOR.. THE EDGE OF THE HOOD AND TRUNK SHOW RUST JUST STARTING BUT, NO BIG DEAL.. THE INTERIOR IS NICE, SEATS,CARPET ETC IS IN-TACT. THE DASH SHOWS SOME CRACKING FROM THE HEAT AND THE DOOR PANELS SHOW AGE AND WEAR..

I HAVE NOT TRIED TO START THE CAR BECAUSE IM SURE IT NEEDS THE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED OUT BEFORE RUNNING AS WELL AS FLUIDS CHANGED ETC BUT, I WAS ASSURED THE CAR RAN PRIOR TO BEING PARKED.. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE PICTURES, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE IS SHOT, I WILL HAVE THAT REPLACED BEFORE THE NEW OWNER PICKS UP THE CAR. IM SURE ALL THE TIRES ARE DRY ROTTED AND HAVE FLAT SPOTS FROM SITTING..

VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.

VW planning 20 new plug-in models for China

Thu, Oct 30 2014

With just about everything getting super-sized for China, Volkswagen is following suit with its plug-in vehicle plans for the world's most populous country. VW, Europe's largest carmaker, is looking to sell more than 20 different plug-in models in China within the next four years, Reuters says, citing comments Volkswagen Group China head Jochem Heizmann made in Shanghai. The company is hoping that translates to sales of more than 100,000 plug-ins in China by the end of the decade. Go big or go home, right? There's a huge plug-in vehicle opportunity in China, especially given the bad pollution situation in cities like Beijing and Shanghai and the Chinese government's incentives for plug-in vehicle buyers. Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn said at the Beijing Motor Show this spring that the company would spend $25 billion on at least a half-dozen plug-in models for China by 2018. VW will start selling the e-Golf in China this year and the Golf GTE plug-in hybrid in 2015. VW said in August that it would start selling the e-Golf in the US for about $35,500 in November. That's a $6,500 price hike from the base Nissan Leaf.

VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
