Up for sale is my Miami Blue 1977 Volkswagen Rabbit 24v VR6.  While that should be enough to have you interested, here are the details:

I purchased this car locally a few months ago.  Don’t be scared.  The previous owner was in a jam and had to unload the car quickly in order to purchase a new truck for work.  I jumped at the opportunity simply because I wanted to drive it!  If you’re reading this you’re probably like me … I’ve owned and driven numerous A1 cars, but never one with a 24v VR6!  According to the previous owner all it needed a brake master cylinder.  So, I towed it home.  In reality it ended up needing a brake master cylinder, a brake line, a coil pack, and tires, but otherwise I was overly happy and I had a 24v Rabbit!  I also fitted it with new Corrado steel wheels, new tires, Genuine VW center caps, and high-speed polished the paint.  Other than that, I’ve taken it to a couple shows and enjoyed it on weekends.

As was my plan when I originally bought the car, I’ve decided to sell it and pass on this absolute bundle of fun to a new owner.  This car is mechanically flawless and has a unique look with the Miami Blue paint and the right amount of patina.  The car is quick, sounds great, and turns heads everywhere!

Here are the details from the previous owner, and upon my visual inspection, and inspection of the records, found to be true and accurate:

-       2.8L 24v VR6 100% rebuilt in April of 2013 by Engine Lab in Tampa, FL.  After a year or so of ownership, the engine spun a main bearing and was COMPLETELY rebuilt and several upgrades added.  Receipts for over $4,000 worth of work!!!

Short List:

-       Unitronic IBM defeat and Stage 1 flash (230hp)

-       Custom CAI with 3" MAF housing

-       SAI delete

-       Working OBD2 port

-       Billet catch can

-       Short. Shifter

-       42DD "crack pipe"

-       42DD billet/Polly Passenger side MKIV motor mount

-       2.5" cat-less exhaust.......sounds simply mean

-       NLS muffler

-       Billet hood struts

-       External hood release

-       PS & AC Deleted

-       MKV .:R32 high volume oil pump

-       Shorty .:R32 oil pan

-       Rokkor Coilovers

-       Extended early front strut mounts

-       Dual-drilled hubs------4x100 & 5x100

EXTERIOR:  Some minor rust in the rear arches, surface rust on the roof, and a small area under the river side foot are that could be addressed.  The hatch looks great on the outside, but also has some rust.  I would replace it before choosing to do paintwork.  You could respray the car or enjoy its beautiful patina.

INTERIOR: VERY good condition, 100% original. No tears and very clean.  It does have some cracking in the dash which has been covered by a dash cap.

I’m willing to assist the buyer with shipping arrangements.  For international buyers, I can deliver the car to the Florida shipping port of your choice for a reasonable fee.

If you have additional questions, or would like to view the car in the Tampa, FL area prior to bidding, please message, email, or call me to discuss.  Good Luck and Happy Bidding!

-Patrick

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.

Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.

2018 Buick Regal TourX vs. wagon competitors: How it compares on paper

Wed, Jan 31 2018

To the great joy of auto enthusiasts nationwide, wagons are back! Well, at least there's a few more of them. The latest is the 2018 Buick Regal TourX, which we just had our first drive of and found to actually be quite good with pleasant handling, solid power and plenty of space. But, how does the TourX compare to other cladded wagons? Well, let's dive into the specs and fire up the ol' spreadsheet maker for Buick Regal TourX vs Subaru Outback vs Audi A4 Allroad vs VW Alltrack vs Volvo V60 Cross Country. True, some are from mainstream brands and others are from luxury marques, but Buick straddles both realms, so it's appropriate to look at them all. Of course, there's more to these cars than just the numbers, but they're still important, and in the case of this class of crossover-aping wagons, can vary more than you'd expect. So check out the specs in the chart below, which are followed by more analysis and photos of each. Discover and compare other wagons and crossovers with our Car Finder and Compare tools. Engines and Transmissions When comparing powertrains, the Buick is far-and-away the winner as far as torque is concerned, and is in a nearly three-way tie for horsepower. Its 295 pound-feet of torque is 22 lb-ft more twist than the next-most-grunty Audi A4 Allroad. And in regards to power, the Buick's 250-horsepower engine is only down 6 hp to the most-powerful Subaru and its optional naturally aspirated flat-six, and just 2 hp less than the Audi. At the bottom of the pack is the Subaru Outback with the standard naturally aspirated flat-four, which only makes 174 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. That may not seem too bad compared with the VW Golf Alltrack, which only makes 170 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, but the VW is much lighter by between 200 and 300 pounds. Transmission-wise, there's quite a bit of variation in the group. The Regal TourX and the Volvo V60 Cross Country rely on eight-speed automatics, all Outbacks use CVTs, and the Alltrack and Allroad have dual-clutch automated manual transmissions with six and seven gears, respectively. But for people that want to shift for themselves, the only option is the Volkswagen, which offers a traditional six-speed manual transmission on the Golf Alltrack. Cargo and Interior Space One of the main reasons to buy a wagon is for the body style's large cargo capacity. And for the most space for things and stuff, you'll want to check out the Subaru and the Buick.
