It is with a heavy heart that I post this car up for sale. I love this car, but financially this is the best option for me. The car has been well kept by Pasadena Volkswagen. It has had all services done in a timely manner and recently had its brakes done and major 80k service. Only synthetic oil has been used at all services. Mechanically, this car is completely flawless! Car Facts: *Car includes all original tools, jack, and spare tire under hatch floor. *New Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires with less than 10k miles on them (over $1,000 on tires alone!) These tires are awesome! Simply the best tires for this car. Period. *Car has both original keys plus the original valet key. *It has all of its maintenance records. *Just got a new battery. *Car has both the rubber monster floor mats (currently installed) and the regular carpet floor mats (with custom aluminum foot plate) not installed but included. Car History: *Third owner of car. Purchased the car with only 12k miles on it back in 2008. The second owner only used it on the weekends and kept it in his garage most of the time. He purchased it from the original owner, who was a VW dealer employee. * It has been involved in two "accidents," both of which were minor fender-benders. Both times the car was hit from the back; the first time, the back bumper was replaced with an OEM bumper and painted the original black color. The second time, both the back bumper and rear hatch were replaced with OEM parts and painted to match the rest of the car. Both times the repairs were done at a local repair shop (M1 Autobody in El Monte) which did a fantastic job. You couldn't tell just by looking at the car. Externally, the car is in very good shape. Small dings and scratches can be located around the exterior of the car, but nothing major. Perhaps the worst defect is a small dent on the front of the hood. Someone must have backed up into the car while parked at a parking lot, leaving a small dent on the front of the hood, but again, nothing major. It also has some scrapes on the bottom of the front bumper due to dips and steep driveways, but nothing drastic. And this is on stock suspension! I can't imagine how it would be if it were lowered. Internally, the car is basically in mint condition. The full leather front seats have very minor wear (no rips or tears), and the back seats are perfect. The only things that keep the car from having a perfect interior is that the handle for the glove box is broken and will have to be replaced, and one of the buttons for the Passat dome light kit is broken. Again, its nothing major, but its still being listed for full disclosure. For a complete car history, feel free to run a Carfax report. The car's vin is: WVWKG61J04D099755 I can also take pictures of whatever you would like to see more up close, so please don't hesitate to message me for more detailed pictures. Extras: Due to the car's limited availability, it has been keep almost fully stock, with only a few modifications done to it. The overall theme to the car's mods has been of the OEM+ style, keeping it as original looking as possible. Some aftermarket parts included are: -OEM HID replica Euro R32 headlights (Helix) which retain the built-in fog lights feature (original headlights also included) -OEM Euro R32 RSSR taillights (Hella) (original taillights also included) -White LED city lights -Clear side indicators -Passat dome light kit (in black) -White LED license plate lights -Tint on all windows (75% on front three, 20% on back three) -Euro Polo rear wiper (original also included) -OEM stubby antenna (original also included) -R32 center caps (original VW center caps also included) -EIP cold air intake (w/ K&N air filter) (original air box also included) -VF Engineering engine mounts -H&R Rear sway bar (original sway bar also included) -OEM 6 CD changer in rear -Infinity Subwoofer (500W) with individual control under radio The car is super clean, has always been a non-smoker, adult-driven, and been very well taken care of. It runs, shifts, and drives beautifully, and has plenty of torque. Long story short, this car is tons of fun and will always leave you with a smile on your face. You won't believe how much positive attention you'll get in one of these! It is not uncommon to be asked questions when you're at the gas station filling up, parking at the store, or just driving down the street. You'll constantly be turning heads. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a rare and wonderful car! You will fall in love with it, guaranteed! Thanks for looking. |

Volkswagen reveals Beetle GSR, R-Line convertible and two special GTIs
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Volkswagen has chosen to really expand its performance-tuned portfolio at this year's Chicago Auto Show, bringing along a couple of new Beetles destined for model year 2014, as well as a pair of freshened GTI packages that you'll be able to buy almost right away.
The first, and splashiest of the Chicago goodies on the VW stand has got to be the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR. Don't lose your temper, Acura Integra geeks; in this case, GSR stands for "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer," and harkens back to a sport-tuned classic Beetle from the 1970s. For the 2014 iteration, the GSR gets a 210-horsepower version of VW's 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. That engine is enough to push the Beetle to 60 miles per hour in 6.6 seconds, and up to a top speed of 130 mph.
Of course, you'll have long-since noticed the shockingly yellow-and-black livery before you stumble across the Turbo badge on the rear deck. The GSR gets 19-inch alloy wheels, 235-section tires and a tea-tray rear spoiler, but it's the paint and graphics package that will decide if this is your (lemony) cup of tea. Things don't get any subtler inside the car, either, as VW has carried the colorway through to the interior, as well. Only 3,500 Beetle GSRs will be produced, with just more than half of those going to the US - call your dealer today, Wiz Khalifa.
Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move
Tue, Dec 6 2016With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
VW could fight Uber Black with Porsche and Audi vehicles
Fri, Jun 3 2016Last week, the Volkswagen group dumped $300 million into Gett, a taxi hailing-cum-ride sharing app that's big outside of the US. Now, the company has revealed that it's pondering a rival to Uber Black by offering private drivers access to its higher-end vehicles. Details are scarce since it's a single line reference in a very long press release, but VW says that it's looking at a "special chauffeur service" that features "premium brands, such as Audi and Porsche." What that looks like in reality is anyone's guess, although the idea of getting ferried around in an Audi RS 7 does have some appeal. The deal with Gett will concentrate on getting Volkswagen cars into the hands of Gett's drivers with the promise of juicy discounts. For instance, the firm will offer a special package that'll bundle car insurance and servicing with the purchase price, which can be paid by a would-be operator in installments. It's a similar deal to the one that Uber offers would-be drivers, letting them buy cars from manufacturers like Volkswagen, Ford and Toyota at a discount. Uber, however, also lets prospective cabbies rent their vehicle on a monthly basis, thanks to a deal with Enterprise. Both of which will likely become more muscular now that Uber has a further $3.5 billion in its back pocket. The troubling fact for the auto industry is that people will still need cars, but it's likely that they won't need as many as they do right now. On-demand services and self-driving vehicles are, after all, intended to shuttle around cities like an ersatz taxi-cum-metro system rather than sitting in parking lots. The concepts of ownership that we currently hold dear (and the profits that car companies get from them) are likely to fade away in the next, say, fifty years time. As such, conglomerates like VW will have to reinvent themselves as both manufacturer and transport company in one. But these changes are never easy, especially when the biggest car firms have tons of baggage that slows down their progress. Many are still devoting time and resources to producing thousands of new cars with combustion engines that will be on the roads for years to come. Looming in the shadow, however, is the emissions scandal, with the financial and reputational penalties likely to be felt for years to come. Younger, more nimble rivals without legacy businesses, like Tesla, are working on mass-producing electric cars for mass-market prices.
