Keller, Texas, United States
For Sale - 2004 Volkswagen Golf R32 Tornado Red 93,512 miles Excellent Condition Dallas - Fort Worth, TX I became the second owner when I purchased the vehicle with 18,399 miles in 2005. The car has never seen a track or been in an accident. It has only been used as a daily commuter and has a perfect history. The car has always been garage kept and well maintained according to the VW schedule (including haldex oil and filter changes). I have lived in Houston, Atlanta, and DFW and the car has rarely seen snow or ice. Routinely detailed inside and out by hand. This is a great example of a nearly stock R32 with less than 100,000 miles! Clean title in hand. Modifications:

Prop-driven VW Beetle hopes to land in Bonneville [w/video]
Thu, 10 Jan 2013Sometimes you meet folks who, when they tell you "Hey, I have an idea," your reflex response is to stop what you're doing and tell yourself, "Get ready...." We imagine Mike Niemans is one of those folks, and the idea in question is putting a tank engine on a Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle. Not just any old tank engine - as if there were such a thing when we're talking about putting them in cars - but a 668-cubic-inch, 220-horsepower radial engine built by Continental in 1941 and procured from an M2 tank.
In the image above Nieman is using the tank clutch hub to get the motor set up, but in one of the images below you can see what really belongs back there is: a two-inch, reverse-pitch prop taken from a wind generator. He says there's enough mojo with the propeller action to get the car rolling down the runway like a jet when he gives it gas - and speaking of gas, the engine's been refitted to run on propane.
After a few safety tweaks Nieman's going to take the matte-black Beetle to Bonneville, "put the prop on, let her go and see what happens!" We can't wait to see the video of that. There are two shakedown videos below to get you ready.
VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.
