2005 Volkswagen Passat Gls Wagon 4-door 2.0l Tdi Turbo Diesel No Reserve on 2040-cars
Ocean City, Maryland, United States
For sale is a 2005 Volkswagen Passat TDI Wagon. It has a clean Autocheck and is being sold with no reserve. The 2.0L four cylinder turbo charged diesel engine purrs along without a miss, smoke or fluid loss. The automatic transmission needs work. It has forward and reverse but is in limp mode in forward which means the top speed is about 40MPH. It should be trailered, shipped or towed on a tow dolly. The brakes and steering are good. It may have a clicking axle. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy silver with no major dents or dings. No body rust. The most noticable blemish is a scratch on the left rear door (see pic). No windshield cracks. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 40% tread (see pic). The interior is black carpet and Volkswagen leatherette seats. No wear areas, holes, rips, etc. in either the carpet or seats. The front seats are heated. There is a factory Monsoon sound system with CD. All the power options such as sunroof, side mirrors, cruise control, windows, etc. work as designed. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. Once repaired, this Passat TDI should run for a long time. There are no mechanical issues with anything except the transmission. We have seen these wagons sell for $5000 to $6000 on eBay. Fix and save. This pre-owned Passat is being sold by a Maryland Used Car Dealer. We require, on ALL internet sales, a $200 internet auction fee which covers document, clerical, airport transportation, IT support, internet provider and all other internet auction expenses. This fee covers our fixed expenses and allows us to sell with no reserve. We offer, with proof of insurance, a 60 day temporary tag for $50. This is a NO RESERVE auction which means that the high bidder, at auction end, must purchase the vehicle. Only bid if you intend to buy and you understand the payment procedure. Please don't insult our intelligence, and yours, with some lame excuse why you can't buy when you win. ALL non-paying bidders will be reported to Ebay. IF THE DEPOSIT IS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN 24 HOURS AS REQUIRED THROUGH PAYPAL WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY RELIST AND REPORT AN UNPAID BIDDER. We try to describe all vehicles accurately. For questions call 410 251-7326. Thanks. SINCE THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A CURRENT MARYLAND INSPECTION, MARYLAND MVA REGULATIONS STATE THAT IT CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED BY A NON-MARYLAND RESIDENT. Deposits are non-refunded. |

Dyno run hints VW GTI power might be significantly underrated
Wed, Feb 4 2015Are you one of the lucky owners of the 2015 Volkswagen GTI? If yes, you should be happy, because your 210- or 220-horsepower hot hatchback might actually have more like 260 ponies under its hood. That's according to a dyno test from a vendor on, of all places, a Ford Focus ST enthusiast forum. The company is estimating a 15-percent drivetrain loss with the GTI's best result a whopping 263 horsepower and 314 pound-feet of torque at the crank. That's a tremendous difference from the 210 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque that Volkswagen claims. Of course, this is merely one dyno session on one car. We'll have to wait until more 2015 GTI owners get on the rolling road to see if Volkswagen really was as conservative about its hot hatch's output as FocusST.org claims. German carmakers recall 630,000 diesel vehicles in Europe
Fri, Apr 22 2016Mercedes, Opel, Porsche, and Volkswagen will recall over 630,000 cars in Europe, according to reports Friday. No diesel car has been able to get under the legal emissions limit in real-world driving, according to a German government investigation. While only Volkswagen Group has been using a specific "defeat device", other carmakers have been playing with their exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems. Depending of the manufacturer, the systems have been cut off at a certain temperature. In a specific test cycle the systems operate to fulfill the legal requirements, but in everyday use the limits are exceeded. According to the magazine Der Spiegel, the supplier Bosch is behind this programming and has provided it to all German automakers. The mentioned carmakers have announced recalls, but many other manufacturers are also mentioned by name in the report, including Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Dacia, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Nissan, Renault, and Suzuki. PSA Group, which produces Peugeot, Citroen, and DS cars, declared yesterday that its offices were raided following an emissions investigation. Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018
Thu, 04 Apr 2013Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.
