I am the SECOND OWNER of this beautiful W8 wagon. First owner was a middle aged woman who dealer serviced it all of its life. I bought it earlier this year completely stock. Not even tinted. The car has always been pampered. ZERO mechanical issues!! Car runs fantastic, I use it every day, and would not hesitate to drive cross country and back 100x. To be honest, I absolutely LOVE this car. I just have a few too many cars right now, and need to clear a few out...

This car is a lot more Audi than it is VW. Its bigger than an A4, with almost as much space & rear leg room as my A6. Definitely more than my old A4. Its much better equipped than even other Passats from the same years. The 4motion system is exactly the same as the Audi Quattro system. It is rear-wheel biased, full time, all wheel drive. Not like the newer VW 4motion system, which is the Haldex design. The Haldex awd is front wheel drive, and power is electronically sent to the rear wheels when the front wheels begin to slip. The Haldex system is very unpredictable and inferior design to the Quattro based system in this car. The suspension is also different from 4 & 6 cylinder Passats of the generation. It is the same part #s as the A6. The W8 model also has additional bracing & welding, which you can really feel by how solid this car is. The brakes are the HP2 321mm setup, from the factory, which is the same as the B5 Audi S4 and the A6 2.7T. The rears are also larger 269mm. Even larger than the S4's 255mm. The W8 engine is incredibly smooth and powerful (270hp/273tq) at all revs, and makes an astonishing sound.

W8 specific features- Bi-Xenon HID headlights (W8 only), heated leather with power & memory, Monsoon stereo with 8 speakers, projector fog lights with yellow Lamin-X, power moonroof, 12v ports in hatch, dual exhaust with quad tips stock, chrome roof rails, wood interior trim, auto-dim rear view mirror, and others.

Never hit, body is all original and it GREAT shape for its age! All panels line up straight and clean. One very small dent by passenger wheel well, seen in pics. Small scratch on hood by pass headlight. Some minor parking dimples on rear bumper from previous owner. All mods & replaced parts listed are less than 3k miles ago. ST Coilovers with less than 2k miles, followed by fresh alignment within spec! No rubbing at all. Rear mufflers replaced with Magnaflows & stainless quad tips slightly bigger than factory. I still have the factory sections with stock mufflers & tips in great condition. I will include these free upon request. The Magnaflow setup really sets that INCREDIBLE W8 sound free!! It seriously sounds like a Ferrari meets a VR6 meets a conventional V8. Turns a lot of heads when a sound like that comes from a wagon!

Fresh oil change 750 miles ago with Mobil 1 European formula & Bosch filter. New front drivers axle. New front upper control arms. New rear brake pads & resurfaced rotors. Tints are also only a few months old, 35% all around.

The height of the car is fully adjustable if you wish it was a different height. It can adjust to rest significantly lower or higher than the photos. (For those not familiar with coilover suspensions..)

The car will come with factory wheels, shown in one of the photos. The 17x8 C5 A6 4.2 wheels are *NOT* included. All other mods & parts listed, and as seen in photos, are included. Factory W8 wheels with good all seasons are included in the sale of the vehicle.

Test drives or inspections are welcome, but no joyriding or tire kickers. Please do not hesitate to message me with any questions you may have. Pickup is preferred. If you need to ship the car, that is your responsibility to arrange, but I will accomodate however I can.. Also willing to deliver within approx 1 hour radius, as long as there is a train near by for me to get back home. Contact me, we can work things out. Please do not contact me regarding low ball offers or trades..

Car is for sale locally & on other sites, so I reserve the right to end early if sold another way.

Recharge Wrap-up: VW Golf TDI wins green car award, DC buses might go electric

Wed, Jul 23 2014

The 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI has won the award for 2014 Northwest Green Car or the Year. The distinction comes from the Northwest Automotive Press Association during its Drive Revolution event in Portland. Co-chairman of the event, Jeff Zurschmeide, says, "Volkswagen has led the diesel passenger car market for years, and the Golf TDI proves that they're likely to stay on top for a while." The 2015 Golf TDI has 10 more horsepower than the outgoing model, while improving fuel economy thanks to a new engine. It also has a base price $3,000 lower than the 2014 Golf TDI. Read more in the press release below. The BMW i8 gets its laser high-beam headlights from lighting company Osram. The laser lights use half the energy of their LED counterparts, according to BMW, which is important when one is trying to get every last bit of range out of the car's battery. The laser high beams can also reach about twice as far as LED lighting. Because of their brightness, they won't be available on cars sold in the US. In laser-equipped i8s, the laser high beams will not work below 60 kilometers per hour, nor when other lights are detected in front of the vehicle. Head to Automotive News Europe to read more. Renault has delivered a fleet of 30 Kangoo ZEs to Uruguay's government-owned power company, UTE. The electric fleet will allow the company to reduce its CO2 emissions by 36 metric tons, says Renault. 84 percent of Uruguay's electricity comes from renewable sources, with a goal of 90 percent on the horizon. Uruguay aims to get a third of its electricity from wind farms by 2016, meaning these Kangoo ZEs will be powered in no small part by renewable energy. For Renault, "This order is a further sign of the interest in the region for electric vehicles," according to Denis Barbier, Renault's senior vice president, citing previous deliveries in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. Read more in the press release at Renault's website. Washington DC's "Circulator" bus routes may go electric. Some of the diesel buses, which were first put to work in 2003, are nearing the end of their life cycle, and DC sees an opportunity to make the switch to something a little greener. "Electric has not been a viable option in previous procurements, but now it is," says Will Handsfield, Georgetown Business Improvement District's transportation director. Handsfield is concerned about air quality, and says he also appreciates the long-term stability of electric rates compared to diesel.

2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR is black and yellow, black and yellow

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Way back in 1973, Volkswagen decided it was high time to take the loveable air-cooled Bug racing. No, it wasn't painted in Herbie colors - Volkswagen called its sport-tuned machine the Beetle GSR, "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer." Hence, the somewhat shocking paint scheme.
VW is bringing its sporty black and yellow Beetle back for 2014, and you can see live photos of it above. It's got a 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood (that'd be the hood up front, unlike the car's forebear), and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission sends those ponies to the front wheels. Note that this car's output is up 10 horses on other turbo VWs, and the Jetta GLI and Beetle Turbo for 2013. The 0-60 run takes 6.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour.
Besides the in-your-face black and yellow paint, the GSR is outfitted with a large rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels shod with 235/40 tires. The bee-like hue carries over inside, with yellow stitching on black leather. Only 3,500 will be produced, each with its own unique plaque. Pricing has not yet been announced, but you're free to read through the press release below all the same.

Volkswagen's 261-mpg hand-built XL1 headed for Geneva

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

After years of rumors, development and testing, the Volkswagen XL1 is finally about to become a reality. The project that began life as a daring 1-Liter concept car in 2002, will finally get its production-ready curtain call at the Geneva Motor Show in just a few weeks.
As soon as it hits the streets, the two-seat XL1 will instantly become the most fuel-efficient and most aerodynamic production car in the world. The car uses a plug-in hybrid system to achieve mind-blowing consumption of just 0.9 liters of diesel fuel consumed every 100 kilometers (and average of roughly 261 miles per gallon). Plus, the XL1 can go up to 50 kilometers on its battery power alone. Coefficient of drag is a miniscule 0.189, thanks to a tiny frontal area and an obviously slippery shape.
XL1 power comes from a two-cylinder diesel motor connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while the 20 kW electric motor is fed by a lithium-ion battery. Both combine to give the XL1 performance figures that are, while not stirring, not shabby considering its extreme frugality: 0-62 miles per hour comes up in 12.7 seconds and top speed is nearly 146 mph.
