B E A U T I F U L  1970 VW Karmann Ghia convertible.  This car is fun to drive especially with the top down on a nice summer day.  It gets lots of attention wherever it goes.

It starts easily, runs well, stops well.   Per the previous owner the motor was rebuilt and now has just under 4K miles on it.  It was built with around 10K on odometer, its a  2017cc with dual webber carbs and electronic fuel pump. Some of the work was done at Chico Performance. The exhaust is a Vintage Speed Super Flow stainless steel. The transmission is also relatively new with a rebuild and about 4K miles on it; its set up with a taller 4th gear (a.k.a. Freeway Flyer).  Had a complete tune-up about 700 miles ago. I have all the receipts that were given to me from the previous owner as well as all of mine.

The paint is in really nice condition, it is not show condition but looks real nice. The drivers side door has some orange peel look to it when you get real close.

Wheels are EMPI brand Porsche Fuch style. Tires are like new, approx 2K miles on them. The breaks are in great condition.  The car has been lowered, using drop spindles, about two inches in the front giving it that clean custom look.

The convertible top is like new as is the boot.  Both are high quality canvas and the top has a plastic window in excellent shape. The liner is is great shape too.

Interior is beautiful two tone black and cream, the seats are fairly comfortable for an older car.  There is a AM/FM Sony CD player with Infinity speakers too. The interior black carpet is in great shape and there are red and black Coco floor mats.

All the electrical is in good working condition, Lights, Radio, Turn signals, horn, wipers, etc.  The cigarette lighter is not wired and the clock and small interior light on the rear view mirror are not working.

All chrome is in great condition, front bumper has some pitting on one blade, rear bumper does not.

This car is currently licensed and has a clear Califonia State title.

This car is rust free, the pans were replaced and all the rockers and panels are straight and clean.

I am willing to work with your transporter/shipper at your expense (The buyers expense).

A down payment of $1000 must be secured via PayPal within 24 hours of winning bid.  The remaining balance is required via a bank transfer or cash within 7 days of the auction ending.

This vehicle is being sold as is, there is no warranty either expressed written or implied.

The vehicle must be picked up.  Seller is willing to work with your transporter/shipper at the buyers expense.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

UK auto magazine says this is the best car commercial of all time [w/videos]

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

There have been many great car commercials over the years, but is it possible to define the best? Well, Ad Week recently took a crack at it by rating the top commercials of the year by looking at their view counts on YouTube, but Auto Express took a more democratic approach by putting the decision to a vote. Just after Thanksgiving, Auto Express came up with a list of the 20 popular commercials, and it tasked its readers with choosing the winner for the best car ad of all time. The winner? Honda's 2003 commercial for its then-new European Accord titled "The Cog."
While the ad never aired in the US, most car people have surely seen the impressive Rube Goldberg-style spot. In fact, the only commercial on this list that we saw on US television was the Volkswagen ad "The Force," but many of the others have become viral videos, including transforming and dancing Citroën C4. Of the 19 other commercials that vied for the title of best ad of all time, only the Ford Puma "Steve McQueen" commercial gave Honda a run for its advertising money.
Scroll down to watch Auto Express' top five commercial in order and to check out a press release, then let us know some of your favorite car commercials in Comments.

Tesla tires turning on Stretchla Vanagon EV conversion project

Tue, Jan 7 2014

It is one thing to say you are going to Frankenstein a Tesla Model S with a pair of Siamese-twinned Volkswagen Vanagons and quite another to actually start taking your newly-acquired, smashed-up electric sedan apart in an effort to bring it back to life. Otmar Ebenhoech is doing just that, and having no small successes along the way. The Stretchla project, as it is being called, has officially started and our protagonist has put together another bit of video to document his progress and let us know about some of the different challenges he's encountered and conquered. While our original post about this endeavor featured video of the stretched Vanagon's drivetrain removal, this latest installment focuses on the Model S. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition and has been tackling some of the basic problems one might expect to encounter: lots of error messages and an electrically disconnected battery pack. Without the aid of a manual or technical diagrams, he's removed the battery pack and discovered why it wasn't sending power to the car. Scroll below to watch the ten-minute presentation and celebrate some initial victories. You can also check out the official Stretchla blog for more photos and updates, including the most recent one that discusses how he talked himself into paying (*spoiler alert) $42,000 for a wrecked, non-functional electric car, along with more recent struggles with the steering rack. Hit us up in the comments to let us know what kind of trouble you would get into with a Model S drivetrain of your own. This content is hosted by a third party.
