Up for sale is my 1972 VW Karmann Ghia Convertible, documented from new, currently only showing 65k miles,  special order car with original "Spedition" paper work in German, original owner's manuals  as well as service receipts from over the years. Engine number AE560129 matches engine number on original paper work. Originally ordered Irish Green with wide white walls and tan interior. Restored back as originally ordered. Very solid car, quarter pans were replaced behind passenger and driver side seat because of minor perforations. No other rust evident. Motor removed and cleaned and detailed; engine tin removed and media blasted and painted satin black; original engine white letter painted numerals were preserved; engine thoroughly checked over and new seals and hoses replaced as necessary, new muffler installed. 4 new Bilstein shocks installed with 4  new wide white wall tires mounted on media blasted wheels which were painted silver base coat + clear coat. No accident vehicle, doors and hood and engine lid close evenly and well.

Interior completely redone with new seat covers front and back in tan installed over new seat pads, new tan canvas top over new pads, new door panels in matching tan, new door seals, new window to top seals,  new top padded dash cover, new dash cover, new radio speaker, (radio works!) AND  new German Square Weave carpeting done by Autos International! We restore Porsche 356s and the German Square Weave carpet we install is provided by Autos International. We contacted Autos International about providing a carpet set for the Karmann Ghia restoration and they replied they did not have the patterns. We removed all of the original carpeting and sent it via UPS to Autos International for patterns and requested a Biscuit German Square Weave carpet set with brown edging. It simply sets the car apart!

New stainless steel bumpers front and back, new windshield gasket seal, all new light seals. All lights work, turn signals, brake lights, windshield wipers, emergency flasher, gas tank gauge, speedometer, odometer. Original radio works. Map light works. Car starts right up, runs strong and "takes the gas". Brakes stop the car evenly and straight and do not pull. Car starts immediately after turning the key and you hear the familiar VW exhaust note.

VW LogBox and Race App performance data logger for R models [w/video]

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Now that it's got a 300-horsepower Golf R to brag about, Volkswagen wants you to be able to brag about it accurately with the LogBox and Race App performance data logging combo. Plug the LogBox into your VW's OBD II port and it sends data over BlueTooth to the Race App, measuring variables like acceleration, distance, G-force and engine performance. If you're on a circuit, it uses Google Maps to make a map of the track, and you can record live video in-app to match with the data. Volkswagen says the LogBox will be available for R models and "a range of further Volkswagen cars," so you'll want to hit up your dealer with questions before ordering. It's available from the VW accessories store for 299 euros ($365 US), but right now the free app is only available in German, in the German-language iTunes and Google Play store. We imagine that will be corrected shortly; in the meantime, the video can show you how it works. Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
