I am selling for my Uncle. It is also for sale locally so i reserve the right to end auction early. Very qualified candidate for restoration im told. Please ask questions, ill answer to the best of my ability. Only has been put outside recently. about 2 weeks ago. been inside storage. covered outside. Floors and metal condition along with motor is it's strong points! I researched and learned about VW crankshaft end play??? this one is solid! little to no movement.

Needs carpet kit, dash pad. very affordable on many VW sites. Many extra parts included. all the bits and pieces are here. Door skins etc, but show their age.
Minimal rust. only areas are around headlight bucket and bumpr mount holes. Nose is solid, trunk floor is solid.
Super solid floor pans 0 rust or holes
heater channel is perfect
Rebuilt dual port 1600 with 10 miles on it. starts up flick of a finger
Only rust is a little around passenger headlight bucket and bumper mounts (have new replacement ready to be put in)
Gas tank was drained, lined and Por 15 on outside
Brand new calipers and brake hoses
Brand new Windshield gasket included
all glass included and in near perfect condition
No bumpers included. was going to do cali look.

floors are super clean, he purchased this one intentionally for this reason. Do not let the sanded down exterior fool you. it is straight and smooth. Body work needed is headlight bucket, feathering out some rough edges and bumper holes. rest os smooth and VERY straight. From what i can tell, not much bondo, just in transition areas.

He planned on restoring it this winter, but he hit a deer on his motorcycle and sustained brain damage. Originally out of california, has been sitting for 3 years now, this past summer motor was rebuilt, brake calipers replaced and tank relined. runs and drives, but needs someone with knowhow. My uncle is selling due to head injury,Settling estate and entering assisted living. He is a gearhead and has many classics. he talks fondly of the ghia. wanted to do airbags and lower it someday.

Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.

VW will need to recall 323,700 diesel vehicles in India

Wed, Dec 2 2015

Volkswagen Group's diesel emissions scandal continues to spread, and now the automaker must recall 323,700 diesel vehicles in India because of too much pollution, according to Bloomberg. The campaign covers models from several of the group's brands including VW, Audi, and Skoda. The Automotive Research Association of India first discovered the emissions irregularities after conducting its own real world and lab tests, and the Indian government then commanded VW to explain what was happening. The country's regulators will allow the automaker to set the recall schedule for the repairs, according to a government official who spoke to Bloomberg, and the campaign will likely happen in phases. Among the affected vehicles, there will be about 100,000 from the VW brand including the Jetta, Passat, and some variants of the Polo. VW already has repairs for some of the affected diesel engines in Europe, and the company can allegedly fix the emissions problem with new software and small hardware changes. The situation is harder in the US where regulators still need to approve any proposed solutions, and VW also must now recall its 3.0-liter V6 TDI in California to eliminate other problematic code. The German automaker faces investigations from regulators all over the world into its emissions evasions, and they could be quite costly. One estimate already suggests the minimum price of the potential repairs, fines, and other expenses at about $24.5 billion. Officials in Brazil have already fined the company $13 million for pollution issues with the diesel Amarok pickup and requested a recall to fix them.
