THIS CAR WAS MY WIFE'S 50TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT BUT AFTER 4 YEARS SHE WOULD RATHER HAVE OTHER THINGS BESIDE A VINTAGE CAR. IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT THE TIME AND SHE HAS TRUELY ENJOYED IT BUT 4 KIDS AND ALL THAT WHICH GOES ALONG HAS KEPT HER FROM IT.
THE CAR WAS RESTORED BY A YOUNG AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER IN THE MIDWEST AND HE TWEAKED TH ENGINE ADDING A NICE AMOUNT OF CHROME AND PUT A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM AND PAINTED IT THE SAGE GREEN YOU SEE. THE CHROME IS PRETTY GOOD AND THE CAR RUNS FINE. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO RUST IN ANY OF THE USUAL PLACES. THE INTERIOR AND THE RUGS AND RADIO ARE ALL GOOD AND SO IS THE ROOF AND GLASS WINDOW THOUGH I BELIEVE THE ROOF HAS TWO SMALL TEARS ALONG THE BASE WHICH ARE INCONSEQUENTIAL. THE CAR IS REGULARLY SERVICED BY MY MECHANIC AND IS RARELY DRIVEN.MILEAGE ON ODOMETER SHOWS 19300 BUT I HAVE NO IDEA;I KNOW CAR RUNS WELL AND IS SOLID. THE CAR IS GOOD AS DAILY DRIVER OR EXCELLENT FOR RESTORATION AS IT IS PRETTY MUCH ORIGINAL WHICH IS IMPORTANT FOR ME. |

Volkswagen Group, BMW Z4 top Total Value Awards by Strategic Vision
Tue, 11 Dec 2012It was just nine months ago that Strategic Vision announced its 2011 Total Value Awards, but you don't have to wait until next year for the 2012 awards. The Volkswagen Group keeps its lead as the number one brand, with seven products taking top category spots: Golf, Jetta Wagon, CC, Eos and Audi A3 Wagon, Q5 and Q7. Strategic Vision says "true innovation" - "rich and impactful, intuitive, motivational, in-depth and is able to trigger description by the user in great specificity" - is the open secret of the brands with the strongest showings. Results are culled from 77,153 owners covering more than 350 new cars bought between September of 2011 and 2012 ranked in the Total Value Index (TVI).
Other notable winners are Hyundai-Kia following VW in the brand category and having the Hyundai Elantra and Kia Sorento among category winners, the BMW Z4 taking the premium roadster category and the highest overall score of any vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt continuing to gather silverware in the Special Category, nabbing the second-highest score of all and representative of "nearly perfect innovation," and Chrysler and Dodge being most improved.

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel
Fri, 26 Apr 2013Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models.
