1970 Volkswagon Karmen Ghia on 2040-cars
Chino Hills, California, United States
This Ghia has new factory original yellow paint job with a extra pint of touch up paint if needed.I bought BRAND NEW IN THE BOX camel colored seat upholstery covers,NEW door side panels still in boxes from TM I, light lenses, new windsheild and rear glass seals, weatherstrip and most every other piece of rubber for complete assembly, all original bumpers still need rechroming, stainless steel in good shape! Many NEW parts, I.E., Karman ghia script new badgeing etc.A complete car ready for assembly! Perfectly straight engine, runs good and starts right up! Auto shift goes into gear( grinds if you try to shift into gear with motor running, but will start in gear but doesnt move. I purchased it and sent it directly to paint shop where it was stripped to bare metal and repainted to its factory yellow color(as can be seen in interior hidden spots.Original wheels and hub caps included, as well as 5 steel style wheels with original unused spare. Additional supposedly running engine with what appears to be new clutch and pressure plate, exhaust, chrome dress up housings, oil sump, aluminum breather, extra dash pad and factory clock. Too many parts to list.Very sharp looking even without assembly. Ive spent thousands on paint and upholstery alone. An excellent father and son project or flip! |

Yes, a family of 5 can live in a 1981 VW Westfalia van
Fri, Feb 14 2014Automakers and marketers trying to reach environmentally conscious consumers who desire the simple life basically have two strategies: promote electric vehicles that can be charged through green energy or sell a 30-year-old Volkswagen van on Craigslist. Nicolas Boullosa and Kirsten Dirksen opted for Plan B and turned a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper into a "micro-living" experiment. The co-founders of the simple living website faircompanies packed up their van and three young children for a road trip through the Pacific Northwest. They even turned the adventure into a documentary called Summer of (Family) Love, which you can view below. It's two hours long, so maybe add this to your weekend viewing list. They limited themselves to one backpack per person into a camper that they purchased off Craigslist and named "Westy." They stuck to their original intention of cooking all their own meals off a propane stove, creating a new little home every night in a different location, mostly spaces outside RV parks. They met up with other enthusiasts of the "tiny house" community who live like nomads. They were able to interview a few of then and, "With each stop we picked up some new piece of wisdom about life's essentials," Dirksen wrote in the faircompanies blog. Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company
Tue, 18 Jun 2013In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote
Thu, 13 Mar 2014The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.
