For sale is my 1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia custom convertible. It was purchased as a project that never got quite finished. Unfortunately, I have to sell due to relocation. It’s had a lot of work done on it, both inside and out making it a one-of-a-kind find. There’s barely been a bolt that hasn’t been touched on this and it’s been a labor of love for a while. Body has been professionally stripped and painted in dark eggplant. The interior inside has been POR15’d but is relatively untrimmed.

1914cc racing engine professionally assembled with dual weber carbs and tuned Unilite distributor. I have installed a classic Porsche shifter and 5-speed transmission with new cvs and axles. 75w 12v alternator installed for remote door poppers, power windows and other accessories. The top was chopped, doors and exterior shaved. It sits low and handles like a speedster.

It’s currently been in storage since I stopped working on it a few years ago (new job) and has been waiting to be delivered to someone that can give it the attention it needs. However, it requires some work to get 100%. Most of the work is cosmetic or to undo the few years of inattention - I really wanted to get it to the point of being driven so before I moved it started and ran like a champ. I have tried to represent this vehicle to the best of my ability, but prospective bidders are encouraged to contact me. I have prepared a detailed spec sheet explaining the car’s condition, components and history, and can send you a copy via Email. I will be happy to answer any questions and send more pictures to interested parties. I'm not responsible for any unexpected perceptions of the car due to a buyer not asking questions about its condition.

The winning bidder should contact me within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction. A $1,000 non-refundable Paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.  This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. If winning bidder does not contact me and submit deposit, vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder. Full payment to be arranged within 7 days after auction via bank wire, certified cashier's check, or cash in person. The car can be picked up in Eureka Springs AR. Details of pickup should be finalized within 7 days from auction end. This includes a guaranteed date of pickup if using a shipping company. Failure to pickup from this date will result in a daily holding fee of $20/day. Buyer is responsible for taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

Meet Brad, Sheena and Nacho
Driving through China is a pricey proposition. The couple will need to pony up a staggering $19,514 just to cover the fees.
Brad and Sheena Van Orden are in the midst of a life-defining campaign to travel around the world, and they're doing it in a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon custom built for the occasion. The past 15 months have seen the couple quit their jobs with Gore-Tex and drive from Arizona to the very southern tip of Argentina after spending a full two years saving and preparing for the trek. Now they're in southern Asia gearing up for the next leg of their journey.

BMW names new CEO, chairman and head of development

Tue, Dec 9 2014

Big changes are afoot in the top ranks at BMW, as the Bavarian automaker has announced not just one, but several appointments in the top floors of its towering headquarters in Munich in what the company itself is referring as "a generational change" in its leadership. The biggest change relates to the chairman of BMW's management board – German-speak for the company's chief executive officer. Effective at the end of the company's Annual General Meeting on May 13, 2015, the company will be run by Harald Kruger. The 49-year-old mechanical engineer has been with BMW since 1992 and has sat on its board since 2008, and has until now been responsible for production for the entire BMW Group. The chairmanship of the board of management currently belongs to Dr. Norbert Reithofer, whom the management is endorsing to chair the supervisory board (which Americans might call the board of directors). That role in turn is currently held by Professor Joachim Milberg, who will step down from his position in order to make way for Reithofer to take his place. Milberg is earmarked to remain with the company to oversee its corporate social responsibility and charitable activities. BMW has also announced the appointment of Klaus Frohlich to serve as its head of development with immediate effect. In his new capacity, Frohlich replaces Dr. Herbert Diess, who in turn has left Munich to take over the Volkswagen passenger car division. Below you'll find statements from both BMW and VW on their new appointments. BMW Group takes steps to initiate a generational change at the head of the Board of Management and Supervisory Board 09.12.2014 - Harald Kruger to become Chairman of the Board of Management in May 2015 - Dr. Norbert Reithofer proposed to succeed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board - Prof. Joachim Milberg to take leading role in the BMW Group's worldwide CSR activities and charitable foundations - Klaus Frohlich appointed to Board of Management with responsibility for Development Munich . At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of BMW AG took the first steps to initiate a generational change at the head of the company's Board of Management and Supervisory Board. Harald Kruger will become Chairman of the Board of Management effective the end of the Annual General Meeting on 13 May 2015. The current Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, will be put forward for election to the Supervisory Board at the 2015 Annual General Meeting.

Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:
