Calif. car originally, here in Az. since then.  I do believe this milage to be original, I've owned many VW's and cannot guarantee it, but maybe.  It suffered a hard life before I got it, mooco bondo and improper repairs.  I replaced the rear of vehicle, maybe three foot forward., also a center section of nose plus left H.L. area.  Finished body work and took it to body shop for paint, single stage w/clear.  Was not overjoyed with result, but a good 5ft.er.  I tried to show blemishes in photo's.  There is one weak spot in floor, again refer to photo's.  The floor is still insulated with orig. padding material, the floor mats still there, will take photo's if you desire.  There a good bumpers with car, I'll send photo's, if you ask.  I converted to 12volt, but the wiper motor is still 6 volt.  The engine isn't rebuilt, but still seems strong with good compression, maybe a small leak.  1600cc.  Good clutch and brakes with new master cyl. & Wheel cyl. kits.  Hand brake does work.  Speedo head noisy.  Orig wiring, good to go.  Directional working.  There is still some assembly obvious in photo's, again I have about everything to finish, except top boot.  I installed canvas Haartz top and headliner, very time consuming, yikes, not completely professional, but not bad either.  I'll explain to a serious buyer.  The Porsche wheels don't go with car, you'll get orig. correct dated wheels & hubcaps, with roller tires.  The orig. eng is available if needed, does run, but tired.  All the reciepts will go with car.  I'll answer questions, if you wish, and will work with buyer anyway I can.  I consider this car to be driver quality, not show, you be the judge.  I'll call you if you wish, to explain vehicle further.  God Bless, Alex

Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road

Wed, 05 Mar 2014

Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.

VW using other manufacturing locations as leverage in battle with TN [w/video]

Sat, 26 Apr 2014

We've reached a new step in the ongoing drama at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN. The United Auto Workers recently dropped its opposition to the union vote and agreed that it wouldn't hold another ballot for at least a year. Now, the new question becomes where VW is going to build its forthcoming midsize SUV.
Earlier, it had been considered all but certain that the SUV, likely a production version of the CrossBlue concept (pictured above), would be built in Tennessee. However, it seems the Chattanooga factory might have competition to produce it. In emails obtained by The Detroit News, VW's lawyer wrote to the Tennessee economic development department in January saying, "While we understand there are some 'non-deal' issues that are causing a delay in the TN solution, VW has been successful in reaching agreement on terms at the alternative locations."
As previously reported, the state of Tennessee allegedly offered VW about $300 million in incentives to build the vehicle there and create an estimated 1,350 jobs, but it later rescinded the deal. Newly leaked documents from NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV) in Nashville allegedly show just how close that offer was to being completed. It appears that VW actually sent the government the first draft of a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the incentives, but the state removed the offer in late January.
