Volkswagen Jetta Tdi Wagon, Low Miles, Turbo Charged, Pano Roof, Leather, 42 Mpg on 2040-cars

This car was garage kept and driven by a non-smoker middle-aged female. It is in almost like new condition because as you can tell by the VERY LOW MILEAGE, it was rarely driven (primarily to and from work). It gets 42 MPG with normal driving practices. Diesel fuel. There are very, very few blemishes on the car. There's a very tiny peck in the windshield and a couple of pecks on the front of hood (from being driven) and only one peck is even noticeable. See pictures, because I photographed EVERYTHING and every blemish. Everything in and on the car works properly. All electric, automatic transmission and tires are in great shape. It has the S gear, which you can shift it into when you need to quickly scoot out into traffic. I rarely used it, but it apparently gets the turbo charger going and will bury your head into the seat when you give it gas; therefore, it was rarely used because they car has plenty of "get-up-and-go" without shifting into the S gear. This is a very sharp and clean car. It has tons of leg room. Even my husband who is 6'3" has plenty of leg room. The roof has the Panoramic Moon Roof so it is all glass and has a great view from the backseat as well as the front seat. It is tinted so it isn't bright at all, however, it also has an electric screen that you can close and the sun doesn't shine through. So, if you don't like a sunroof, you can just close it with the push of a button. The car Syncs with your phone. So, you can see who's calling, make and receive calls hands-free. Satellite Radio. There are manufacturer labeled rugged floor mats, along with the regular carpet ones. They are really neat for keeping everything clean. The car has cruise control, heated seats, CD player, alarm system, rear air, and 110V outlet in center console. The glove box has an air conditioned vent inside of it, so it keeps it cool, even in the summer heat. The trunk/ cargo area is very large, and the back seats fold down flat for extra cargo space. The keys are like the Mercedes switchblade keys. You can see them in the pic. This car drives like a performance car but has the space and roominess of a family vehicle. It has been a great car that I have enjoyed driving. I have tried to include pics of the entire car, so you can see that it is a really nice car. Photos of all blemishes have also been included. VW chair says component cost decrease keeps him confident of EV success
Tue, Mar 25 2014Volkswagen AG is in the middle of implementing a comprehensive electric vehicle strategy, one that we've been documenting for a long time. The Group stands ready to offer dozens of plug-in vehicles in the coming years if it feels there is sufficient demand and believes that selling a million EVs in Germany by 2020 is reasonable. That would be a solid number, but remember that VW sold over 5,923,000 passenger cars around the world last year, and the group as a whole sold over 9.7 million. At the company's annual Media Conference and Investor Conference in Berlin recently, the chairman of the board of VW AG - surrounded by some decidedly non-green examples of the VW Group's vehicles (some absurd new Bugatti, for example) - took some time to put the company's EV plans into focus. The upshot is that Dr. Martin Winterkorn is still guiding his electromobility ship into new waters, saying that "many more [plug-in] models will follow." Winterkorn said there are three main reasons he is confident in the ability of VW (and Audi and Porsche, at the very least) to push EV sales upward. Batteries are getting better, he said, and if the ranges can be extended, then customers are happy. But the real secret lies in reducing component costs. He said (as translated): It is important to look at the cost of the components: the battery technology, the electric motor and the electric components. Whenever you go into volume production, you of course have economies of scale. In two to three years' time, if we are able to achieve the goals we are setting for ourselves with cost and reach sufficient volume, I do believe that we can achieve two to three percent [market share] within VW Group. So, hitting a million EVs by 2020 is reachable. With the e-Golf and the e-Up off to excellent sales starts, we're willing to be confident as well.
Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign
Sat, Dec 27 2014The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. Then again, Egger could find it time to open an entirely new chapter. Watch this space. Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.
