2013 - Volkswagen Jetta on 2040-cars
Bethesda, Maryland, United States
Current Mileage is 20,000... I am listing my 2013 GLI Autobahn Edition, rather than waiting to trade it in. What is the reason I would sell it, rather than wait? The seats. My previous 5 series BMW seats were great for me because they were almost flat. The GLI seats have a very low seat height which I love. However… They also have very high bolsters, which are great when you get into a nice corner but not when you commute 70 miles a day. The suspension is also more sporty than I like at this point in my life. My friends seem to love the seats, so it is a matter of preference. I have some extras with the car, and all of it is included in the price. I already know what I can get for trade in, but the car I want is not out yet. I have not paid it off because my interest rate is almost nothing. I am asking for less than what I owe on it, and I will pay off any balance that is due upon sale. It's your choice if you prefer to pay VW financial directly, or if you would rather pay me. I will give you a legal Bill of Sale and also a Statement of Fact both of which are legal DMV forms, and will transfer ownership to you as soon as the loan is paid and the title is cleared. The title is held electronically and will be released by VW 1-2 weeks at the most, after loan payoff. I could have the seats re-upholstered and have the bolsters removed and the leather redone, but I originally only bought the car while I was waitingget a new wagon and I don’t want to get into customizing it too much. So, here is all the info regarding the car. It is a 2013 GLI with Autobahn package and manual 6 speed transmission. I have both the cloth matts (in the car) and the rubber heavy duty GLI matts (brand new and included). It has a trunk liner with dividers. I have a 1080p HD wide angle dash cam that is mounted and included with the car. It has had the Soundaktor (fake sound generator) unplugged. I can plug it back in or leave it, your choice. I didn’t want any fake sounds in my car, and it’s much quieter inside the car without it. FULL DISCLOSURE: The front windshield was replaced about 6 months ago, due to a large can or something getting kicked up by a car ahead of me on the freeway. (Something always seems to happen wbuy a brand new car… Like it’s a magnet). I have 17” GLI OEM wheels and tires that I put on the car, because I wanted all the Autobahn featuredidnwathe 18” two tone rims on there. Not my style. I like understated. But I also have the 18” GLI Bathhurst wheels and tires that I took off the car and stored. They have very little wear on the tires and are in like-new condition. I took them off the first month. You can use the 18’s with summer tires and put snow tires on the 17’s and always have a set of stock GLI rims on the car, if you live in a colder climate. It has matching flat black license plate frames and screws front and rear. I have the original window sticker, and all books and manuals. Both key fobs are included. I have also just paid the registration, so it’s valid until March 2015. The scheduled services have been done at 10,000 miles and again at 15,000 miles. I will be doing the 20,000 mile service soon. I also changed the oil and filter at 3,300 miles because I just didn't like the idea of going 10k miles on the oil that came from the factory. I also changed the oil drain plug with an ECS tuning / Magnetic drain plug. Only VW specific oil and VW and MANN filters have bused. I also only use 91+ premium gasoline. Usually Chevron, Mobile or 76. That’s about it. If you have an interest in the car, feel free to contact me. I had to order this car with the gray/ black color option and Autobahn package with manual 6 speed transmission. I have seen a few 2012’s for sale, but remember that they did not have a traction control button prior to 2013. In other words, you cannot disable the traction control like you can on the 2013. Also, there are no TPMS sensors in the wheels of the 2013. The previous model had them, and that means that when you swap rims/tires, you have to make sure they also have the TPMS sensors. On this car, you can swap rims and tires all you like. There is one button inside the glove box that you push to re-program the system. It uses the ABS system to monitor tire rotation. That is how it measures the air pressure in the tires, via the difference in the turning rate of the wheels. Look on forum sights and you will see what I am talking about. Thanks for reading my ad and if there is anything I didn’t put on here that you would like to know or if you have an interest in this car, I can be contacted at 949-412-5723. Car is also listed locally. Listing will be deleted if it sells locally. I also drive the car daily, so the mileage will be about 70 miles per day higher, but I will update mileage weekly while the car is listed for sale. I will be continuing to take care of any services or warranties and anything else that the car may need until it sells. I have always treated all my cars/ bikes/ projects the same way. Until it sells, it's still my car and maintained accordingly. As a bonus, I will have it detailed and I will fill the gas tank before you pick it up. The Current NADA values on my car are $21,500 Trade In and $24,625 Clean Retail Value. Thank you for reading my listing. Let me know if there is anything regarding the GLI that I have not covered in this listing, that you would like to know about. Have a great day! P.S. If you do not need the 18” wheels and would rather purchase the car with the 17” wheels that are on it right now…Then I would be willito sell the 18” wheels separately and sell the car for $22,000. Please keep in mind that I will not sell the rims before I sell the car. Just in case new owner wants both factory sets. Thank you.

VW recalls 25k Jettas over low-beam headlight issue
Wed, Dec 31 2014Volkswagen has discovered an issue with the headlamps on its latest Jetta and is issuing a recall notice in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to correct the issue. The problem revolves around the headlight control module, which has been found in certain instances to switch off the low-beam headlights when the high beams are turned on. Needless to say, that could result in insufficient illumination in the dark, so VW is moving to update the module's software. The issue only affects the new 2015 Jetta specifically those manufactured between July 11, 2014 (which just happens to be this writer's birthday, thank you very much) and November 13, 2014. All in all, the Volkswagen Group of America estimates that encompasses 25,007 units in the United States, the owners of which can expect to hear from their dealers in the new year. RECALL Subject : Insufficient Headlight Output Report Receipt Date: DEC 15, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V790000 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING Potential Number of Units Affected: 25,007 All Products Associated with this Recall close VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2015 Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. SUMMARY: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jetta vehicles manufactured July 11, 2014, to November 13, 2014. Due to incorrect software within the headlight control module, the low beam headlights may turn off when high beam lights are turned on. As a result, the light output from the headlights may be insufficient. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108. "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." CONSEQUENCE: Insufficient headlight output may increase the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will update the headlight control module software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in January 2015. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 57F6. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
New Audi design chief Massimo Frascella shaped cars for Jaguar Land Rover
Sat, Feb 17 2024At the Audi brand, style and design have long been a high priority; think the super sleek and sexy A7 sedan, the Bauhaus-inspired TT coupe, the single-frame grille that instantly identified the marque with its down-the-road graphics. So when the Bavarians install a new head of design, thats also worth a look. Massimo Frascella is that person, a 52-year-old Italian designer who this summer will succeed Marc Lichte. Lichte ran Audi design since 2014 and will take up a new role within the Volkswagen Group. Frascella, a student at the Istituto d`Arte Applicata & Design in Turin, ignited his career at Stile Bertone, and his resume after that evolves impressively. He subsequently held positions at Ford Motor Company and Kia, and since 2011, Frascella has held senior positions at Jaguar Land Rover. He was responsible for the creation of several models: Discovery Vision Concept (2014), Discovery Sport (2014), Discovery (2016), Velar (2017), Evoque (2019) and Defender. In 2019 he became creative director of Land Rover and in 2020 design director. He was also instrumental in the development of the range of new electric Jaguars that are in the works. Joining Audi is a very special moment for me, Frascella said. I am deeply honored to assume the role of chief creative officer and to guide such a talented team in shaping the future of the brand to new heights of innovation and distinction. I believe in the emotional power of design to inspire, connect, and drive change, and I am here to nurture and promote creativity as the beating heart of our brand. Looking back a couple of decades, it was one of Frascellas predecessors who helped to cement Audis reputation in automobile design: Walter de Silva. De Silva was appointed head of Audi design in 2002. From 2007 to 2015, he supervised the design strategy for the entire Volkswagen group, including the TT, the Scirocco, the Passat and the Golf. Not a bad list of achievements, but in a interview several years ago, de Silva said that he considered the 2007 Audi A5 coupe the pinnacle of his automotive design art, citing its sex appeal, the shape of the lights, the architecture. Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'
Tue, 02 Apr 2013From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?
