Base S and SE versions of the 2012 Jetta Sportwagen come with a 170-horsepower, 2.5L in-line 5-cylinder engine, while the TDI model comes with a 140-horsepower, 2.0L turbo-diesel 4-cylinder. The TDI engine is actually the quicker of the two engines, as it produces much more torque--236 pound-feet, as low as 1,750 rpm. This reduces the need for downshifts and brings a relaxed, yet strong driving experience. Gas mileage is also very good in the TDI--up to an EPA-rated 30 mpg city, 42 mpg highway. Both engines can be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox, while a conventional 6-speed automatic is available on the gasoline engine and Volkswagen's DSG dual-clutch automatic is offered on the TDI. While either of the automatic options include Tiptronic manual control, the DSG is somewhat quicker-shifting and sportier in feel.Across the Sportwagen lineup, this model lives up to its name, with an eager, nimble driving experience, including a responsive yet light electromechanical steering system and a fully independent front strut, rear multi-link suspension that's tuned on the firm side, yet with just enough ride comfort to keep passengers content. Four-wheel disc brakes provide solid stopping power, while electronic stability control, an electronic differential lock, and engine braking assist are included, as are front side airbags and side-curtain bags that cover front and rear occupants. The 2012 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen is based on the previous, pre-2011 version of the Volkswagen Jetta Sedan, and actually has a nicer, more lavishly trimmed interior than the newer, somewhat cost-cut Jetta Sedan. Most will prefer the interior of the Sportwagen, which has nice cloth upholstery on the base S or leatherette on the SE and TDI models, plus plenty of nice detailing and soft-touch surfaces. In addition to seating that's supremely comfortable, there's impressive versatility and flexible cargo space in the Sportwagen. Adults will find enough space in front or in back, and the rear seatbacks are split 60/40 and fold forward flat for more space--in addition to the 32.8 cubic feet with the seats up in place. The cargo area also includes a cargo tray just below the main cargo floor, large enough for a laptop or several small items, and the rear hatch opens wide with a very low cargo floor. Jetta Sportwagen S models come with quite an impressive lot of standard equipment, including Bluetooth hands-free calling, heated front seats, power windows and locks, cruise control, a trip computer and an 8-speaker sound system with auxiliary input. SE models step up to 15-inch alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery, an upgraded multi-function steering wheel and some upgraded trims. TDI models are equipped virtually the same as SE models.Optional on both the SE and TDI models is a large panoramic sunroof and when packaged with navigation it's paired with 17-inch Porto alloy wheels and keyless start. The navigation system itself has a 5-inch touch screen with 2D and 3D views. CALL FOR MORE INFO 419-765-0040 8-7 E.S.T EXCELLENT CAR ! !

Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
Next VW GTI to get 10-speed dual-clutch gearbox
Wed, Nov 26 2014Following on Volkswagen's official announcement that it was working on a ten-speed, dual-clutch transmission, Auto Express has it on "good authority" that the new transmission will end up in the next GTI, GTD and Golf R. The brand's current seven-speed will be retained for lesser eight-generation Golfs. While the new gearbox won't be limited to just the higher-end Golf range, the new hatchback, expected in 2017, will be the first to get it, Auto Express reports. The new DSG is the same size as the Volkswagen Group's seven-speed dual-clutch, and will easily fit into VAG's MQB platform, so we should expect it to filter into the rest of the Group's vehicles, much like the seven-speed 'box has. The ten-speed is likely to see applications beyond even the small cars of the MQB platform. The gearbox can handle 405 pound-feet of torque, according to AE, making its application in larger offerings such as the gas-powered MLB cars and crossovers a likelihood. Beyond the new gearbox, Volkswagen is also toying with mild-hybrid tech for the standard Golf and better batteries for the e-Golf. As we said, expect the new Golf to arrive in European markets in 2017, with the current Euro-market Golf getting updated next year. As for the US, we wouldn't be surprised if VW followed the trail blazed by the Mark 7, with a North American arrival for the eight-gem Golf slated for a year or so after sales in Europe begin.
Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates
Wed, Jul 23 2014Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once – especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015. The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well. For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan – both long rumored to be on their way out – will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment. Meanwhile the Routan, which hasn't actually been built in over a year, is finally dead, as VW confirms it has dropped the Chrysler-built minivan from its lineup for 2015 altogether. The German automaker has also confirmed that the Touareg is getting a facelift early in the new year, which we expect will closely follow the revisions revealed a few months ago ahead of the Beijing Motor Show. Finally VW has announced an upgrade to its 2.0-liter TDI. Fitted to the Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle, the updated diesel gets 10 more horsepower with output now up to 150 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. Scope out the full list of announcements in the press release below.
