VW TDI ads star four 'salty' ladies and a stinky dog named Tuna
Sun, Mar 22 2015The Kim Kardashian sex tape just keeps on giving: it brought the Three Golden Sisters to our attention, and now Volkswagen has used their comedic, Bronx grandmother schtick to promote its TDI engines. The ads are another round in the fight against the malicious perceptions of diesel – like how they're slow and loud (they aren't), that it's hard to find a station to refill (it isn't), and that they stink (they don't). Tanner Foust makes an appearance in one spot to dispel the notion of sluggishness, and Tuna the Dastardly Dog proves that she (or he?) can outstink a diesel any day. Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling
Sat, 02 Mar 2013Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.
US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York
Tue, 12 Mar 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
