HERE WE HAVE A 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI TURBO DIESEL 5 SPEED IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION AND VERY GOOD COSMETIC CONDITION. THESE CARS (TDIs) ARE WELL KNOWN FOR EASILY ACHIEVING 200,000-300,000 MILES. THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR FOR ME BUT I NO LONGER NEED HER. THE BEST ATTRIBUTE OF THIS VEHICLE IS DEFFINITELY THE FUEL MILEAGE! IT VARIES BETWEEN 40-50 MPG CITY/HIGHWAY. LAST YEAR I WENT TO LAS VEGAS AND BACK (FROM SAN DIEGO) WITH THREE FRIENDS, A FULL TRUNK, A/C ON HIGH, AVERAGING 70-80 MPH ON ONE TANK OF DIESEL !!! IN CITY, I GET A MINIMUM OF 40 MPG. MY SECOND FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS CAR IS THAT ITS SMALL BUT STILL HAS JUST AS MUCH ROOM AS A LARGER CAR, ESPECIALLY THE CARGO/TRUNK SPACE. THE BACK SEATS ALSO FOLD DOWN FOR EXTRA LARGE ITEMS AND TWO ADULTS CAN EASILY SLEEP IN THE BACK WITH THE SEATS DOWN (I'VE DONE IT). WHILE I HAVE OWNED HER ALL REGULAR MAINTENENCE WAS PERFORMED ON TIME AND WITH THE BEST PARTS AND FLUIDS (FACTORY/SYNTHETIC OIL). THE JETTA ALSO HAS FAIRLY NEW TIRES ON HER WITH APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MILES THEM. SOME OTHER OPTIONS THE CAR HAS ARE HEATED FRONT SEATS, POWER DRIVER SEAT, POWER WINDOWS/DOOR LOCKS, POWER SUNROOF, KEYLES ENTRY, TILT STEERING AND CRUISE CONTROL. THERE IS NOTHING ON THIS CAR THAT DOES NOT WORK, EVERYTHING IS UP TO PAR AND THE ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN RUNS LIKE IT HAS 20,000 MILES NOT 120,000.
PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO EMAIL/CALL ME WITH QUESTIONS, I AM VERY FLEXIBLE WITH REGARD TO VIEWING THE CAR AND THE ACTUAL TRANSACTION, THANK YOU.

Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.

An inside look at VW's new California R&D center

Thu, 18 Oct 2012

Less than two months ago, the Volkswagen Group opened a new facility in Oxnard, California (about an hour's drive west of Los Angeles). The $27 million investment, touted as Test Center California (TCC), serves as a research and development lab testing emissions for all brands under Volkswagen's umbrella, including its newest member, Porsche. While still not fully operational, we toured the new 64,000-square-foot building last week and had a first-hand opportunity to see just how much work is involved testing engines and meeting increasingly stringent government emissions standards.
Replacing a similar facility established in 1990 in Westlake Village (about 20-minutes east of the new location), our guide explained how Oxnard was chosen for its temperate climate, varied regional terrain for test drives and low altitude. (The area is only a few feet above sea level - a critical parameter when instrument testing emissions.) The new facility is capable of analyzing hundreds of vehicles, prototypes and customer-owned vehicles, annually.
Most interesting to us was the huge stainless steel climate chamber, with a massive four-wheel dynamometer that allows VW to test running vehicles in both scorching desert and freezing climates without ever leaving the building (an Audi Q7 was running in place during our visit). We were also mesmerized by the countless storage tanks and intricate plumbing of chemicals, stored in both liquid and gas states, needed to perform the variety of tests. Lastly, we took a look at Bugatti's service center on the west coast, located completely within the new center. While there were no supercars on site, the facility is equipped with plenty of spare forged wheels (mounted with expensive Michelin PAX tires) and a Veyron-specific repair jig that allows the vehicle to be completely disassembled, if needed. It is a shame that the facility, which set off all of our automotive geek alerts, is closed to the public.

VW Group to split brands under four holding companies

Tue, Jun 16 2015

The Volkswagen Group is planning a tremendous shift in its internal structure that will decentralize operations by splitting its 12 brands into four different holding companies. Here's the breakdown. Things will be split logically, considering the inter-sharing of parts, platforms, and engines. The Volkswagen brand, Seat, and Skoda make up a passenger vehicle division led by former BMW man Herbert Diess. Audi, which is tightly intertwined with Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, will be managed by current Audi exec Rupert Stadler. Porsche and Bentley, which are already quite close, will be joined by Bugatti and run by Matthias Mueller. Finally, a commercial vehicles division will include Volkswagen Commercial, Scania, and Man. Former Daimler exec Andreas Renschler will take care of the big vehicles. The massive move, according to Automotive News Europe, is part of an internal VAG effort to move away from the structure established by ousted Chairman Ferdinand Piech, who favored a compact, but highly centralized, management structure to oversee the independent actions of the company's brands. Criticism of Piech's arrangement stemmed from the company's slow responses to changes in the market, ANE reports. The new structure should make for a more efficient, streamlined company that's better able to make crucial decisions. What are your thoughts? Should VAG decentralize, or did Piech have the right idea? Have your say in Comments.
