2006 Volkswagen Jetta Tdi Sedan 4-door 1.9l on 2040-cars
Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States
I purchased this car used in 2008 from a dealer. It had ~65,000 miles at the time. I have always changed the oil in a timely fashion and kept up with routine maintenance. The timing belt was changed at 100,000 miles. The tires have about 15,000 miles on them as well as the brakes. This is an awesome car and I am really surprised that it has had a serious mechanical failure : (
I am not in a position to fix it. ON THURSDAY AUGUST 21ST THE TURBO CHARGER BLEW AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. IT HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE. It will start and idle. It blows a lot of white smoke and it uses oil. That is, you can see oil coming from the exhaust pipes. Car is being sold with no warranty whatsoever. Strictly as is. A great buy for someone with a totaled car of the same type with a good engine or a mechanic with the ability to repair it. NOTE: the small dents on the driver door and the drivers side rear door look more prominent in person than the picture shows. I couldn't get a good picture that shows the drivers side of the car. THIS CAR MUST BE TOWED OR SHIPPED AFTER PURCHASE! IT WILL BE DAMAGED FURTHER IF DRIVEN. |

VW could look outside its own ranks for next CEO
Fri, Feb 27 2015Companies have two options when coming up with succession plans – hire within, or go outside its ranks. Either choice comes with advantages and disadvantages, to be sure. Hiring within means generally getting someone familiar with the company and its culture and traditions, while going outside is ideal if you're looking to shake things up and bring in fresh ideas. It's unclear which avenue the Volkswagen Group will go down when it comes time to replace its head man, Herr Professor Doctor Doctor Herr Martin Winterkorn, but he isn't ruling out a trip outside of Wolfsburg. Winterkorn has already given the reins of the VW brand to former BMW board member Herbert Diess, while Andreas Renschler, a former Daimler board member, is heading up VW's truck group. Now, Winterkorn has made some statements to a German weekly that indicate the most important thing about his successor isn't necessarily his (or her, though no women appear to be on the short-list) previous employer, Motoring.com.au is reporting, so much as his qualities as a leader and an engineering background. "A Volkswagen boss has to have a big affinity to our products. He needs to be close to customers and he needs to have a relationship with dealers," Winterkorn told Stern. "Like always, it depends on the personality and it also helps if the candidate is an engineer." Motoring throws out a couple of potential candidates from within, including Porsche boss Mathias Muller, Audi Chairman Rupert Stadler and engineering guru Ulrich Hackenberg, in addition to both Diess and Renschler. And while each candidate has a lot of potential, the only thing that's guaranteed right now is what Winterkorn has already said: "The decision about who will succeed me is not an easy one for the supervisory board."
Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling
Sat, 02 Mar 2013Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.
Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
