Selling my 2004 Volkswagon Jetta TDI Diesel with automatic transmission with only 136,900 miles on it. This is the GLS fully loaded model equipped with the following: leather, power windows, power locks, heated seats, monsoon sound system, on-star system, upgraded factory rims, sun roof, etc. **Please contact me via text, phone or ebay message with any questions - CHRIS 713-702-7984**

I purchased this just over a year ago when I was commuting a lot for work - these little turbo diesel VWs get well over 40mpg which really helps if you have a long commute. I've since changed jobs and am not commuting as far. So, for the past few months this has just been a 3rd vehicle which has been in the way which is why I'm selling it.

Highlights listed below:
- clean and clear blue Texas title
 - new Texas inspection and registration stickers
- written documentation in owners manual for routine maintenance performed by previous owners
- timing belt replaced by dealer at 100k miles and documented in owners manual with dealer sticker
- Both front CV joints replaced earlier this year and have lifetime warranty
- Lower front A-arm/control arm bushings replaced with upgraded components last fall
- Coolant reserve tank replaced earlier this year
- Brakes were replaced just prior to me purchasing the car a year ago and ~7k miles ago.
- EGR delete kit installed earlier this year (common modification as it discourages soot/carbon build up in the intakes of these engines and since EGR cooler is removed prevents expensive failures/repairs of that system from occurring). I will give you all the EGR components that were removed from the car if you want them.

Overall the car is in good shape and ready to hit the road and start saving you money on fuel. When I bought this car last year I looked at quite a few others before purchasing this one and all the others had much higher mileage, mechanical issues, needed the timing belts replaced (expensive), were ragged out, previously wrecked, had salvage titles, etc. It was hard for me to find one of these TDIs in this good of condition. Having said that, there are a few imperfections that I consider minor with this car - those are: two spots on drivers seat, minor/typical door dings/scratches on outside, a rock chip at bottom of windshield, lid for center console doesn't latch properly (only an issue when armrest/console is raised to vertical position), and the drivers side power seat doesn't work.

Located in Deer Park, Texas which is only about 25 minutes East of downtown Houston. Asking $8,000 OR BEST OFFER. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks, Chris 713-702-7984.

NA auto output to reach 11-year peak

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.

Recharge Wrap-up: VW Golf TDI wins green car award, DC buses might go electric

Wed, Jul 23 2014

The 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI has won the award for 2014 Northwest Green Car or the Year. The distinction comes from the Northwest Automotive Press Association during its Drive Revolution event in Portland. Co-chairman of the event, Jeff Zurschmeide, says, "Volkswagen has led the diesel passenger car market for years, and the Golf TDI proves that they're likely to stay on top for a while." The 2015 Golf TDI has 10 more horsepower than the outgoing model, while improving fuel economy thanks to a new engine. It also has a base price $3,000 lower than the 2014 Golf TDI. The laser lights use half the energy of their LED counterparts, according to BMW, which is important when one is trying to get every last bit of range out of the car's battery. The laser high beams can also reach about twice as far as LED lighting. Because of their brightness, they won't be available on cars sold in the US. In laser-equipped i8s, the laser high beams will not work below 60 kilometers per hour, nor when other lights are detected in front of the vehicle. Head to Automotive News Europe to read more. Renault has delivered a fleet of 30 Kangoo ZEs to Uruguay's government-owned power company, UTE. The electric fleet will allow the company to reduce its CO2 emissions by 36 metric tons, says Renault. 84 percent of Uruguay's electricity comes from renewable sources, with a goal of 90 percent on the horizon. Uruguay aims to get a third of its electricity from wind farms by 2016, meaning these Kangoo ZEs will be powered in no small part by renewable energy. For Renault, "This order is a further sign of the interest in the region for electric vehicles," according to Denis Barbier, Renault's senior vice president, citing previous deliveries in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. Some of the diesel buses, which were first put to work in 2003, are nearing the end of their life cycle, and DC sees an opportunity to make the switch to something a little greener. "Electric has not been a viable option in previous procurements, but now it is," says Will Handsfield, Georgetown Business Improvement District's transportation director. Handsfield is concerned about air quality, and says he also appreciates the long-term stability of electric rates compared to diesel.

VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
