THIS IS A 2002 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI TURBO DIESEL IN GREAT CONDITION. IT IS AUTOMATIC, HAS AFTERMARKET TAIL LIGHTS, HAS CD PLAYER, HEATED SEATS, ETC. IF ANYTHING WAS EVER WRONG WITH THIS CAR, I MADE SURE TO FIX IT CORRECTLY AND RIGHT AWAY. THINGS THAT I CAN THINK OF OFF OF THE TOP OF MY HEAD THAT I HAVE FIXED OR REPLACED OR ADDED: NEW TIRES, NEW PAINT JOB ON THE HOOD AND ROOF (THESE WERE PEELING BADLY JUST LIKE ANY OTHER JETTA OUT THERE), A FROST HEATER (GREAT FOR WINTER TIME!), NEW COOLING FANS, BRAKES, WHEEL LOCKS REMOVED, NEW COOLANT FLANGE, GLOW PLUGS, GLOW PLUG HARNESS, NEW COOLANT HOSE, NEW ALTERNATOR, MOTOR OIL AND FILTER WAS JUST CHANGED, AIR CONDITION WITH JUST CHARGED, NEW COOLANT SENSOR, NEW SENSOR PLACED UNDERNEATH THE TRANSMISSION (I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS CALLED, NEW OIL PAN (WAS LEAKING OIL WHEN I GOT IT), ETC., ETC. I CAN'T RECALL EVERYTHING THAT I REPLACED. I BOUGHT IT KNOWING IT NEEDED WORK SO I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON IT IN ORDER TO MAKE IT WHAT IT IS NOW. IT IS A SHARP LOOKING VEHICLE THAT WORKS VERY WELL NOW! IT HAS 153,000 MILES ON IT WITH HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES TO GO. WHEN I PURCHASED IT FROM THE FELLOW, HE SAID THAT THE NEW TIMING BELT WAS CHANGED AT 100,000 MILES. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER IN CARLISLE AREA, HE STATED THAT THE VIN NUMBER OF THE CAR DID SUGGEST THAT IT WAS IN FOR SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE TIMING BELT AT 100,000 MILES. THE ONLY PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE WITH THE CAR IS A SLIT IN THE LEATHER SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (WHICH I BOUGHT SOME FILL THAT I PUT IN SO IT WOULDN'T GET WORSE, AND THE ARM REST DOESN'T WORK TOO WELL. OTHER THAN THAT IT DOES HAVE SCRATCHES, ROCK CHIPS, ETC. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CAR OF THIS AGE.  THE BACK BUMPER DOES HAVE SOME SCRATCHING, AND RUB MARKS.  IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, JUST ASK.  I CAN ALWAYS SEND MORE PICTURES TO YOU. THE PRICE IS $6,000 OR BEST OFFER. THESE TDI'S ARE VERY HARD TO COME BY, ESPECIALLY WITH THE GREAT FUEL ECONOMY THAT THEY GET. I GET ANYWHERE BETWEEN 40-45 MPG DEPENDING ON WHERE I AM DRIVING. PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND WE CAN SET A TIME FOR YOU THE TAKE A LOOK AT IT. IT WON'T LAST LONG!  YOU CAN TEXT OR CALL ME AT 570-274-0684.  THE CAR IS BEING OFFERED LOCALLY AND I HAVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION AT ANY POINT IN TIME.

Suzuki and VW finalize their divorce

Thu, Feb 11 2016

The rocky divorce between Suzuki and Volkswagen is finally over after working its way through the International Court of Arbitration since 2011, according to the Japan Times. In the final settlement to end the companies' disputes, Suzuki agreed to pay VW an undisclosed amount for not living up to the agreement to use the German automaker's diesel engines. While they won't disclose the exact sum, Suzuki said in a statement that the money "will not have any significant impact" on its 2015 fiscal year results, which will end in March. The arbitration court took the biggest step to end this transcontinental partnership in August 2015 when the body ruled VW needed sell its 19.9-percent stake in Suzuki. However, the Japanese company wasn't entirely off the hook because VW was still allowed to sue for damages over the diesel engine issue. This latest decision finally clears up that dispute. Like most marriages, the union between VW and Suzuki began with stars in both parties' eyes. The Germans paid $2.8 billion to buy 19.9 percent of the Japanese company in December 2009. VW was supposed to get greater access to the auto market in India, and Suzuki hoped to capitalize on access to its partner's advanced technology. By 2011, rumors started percolating that things were contentious behind closed doors. VW allegedly tried to assert control over Suzuki's operations, and the Japanese company reportedly wasn't happy with its access to the German tech. Suzuki even bought diesel engines from Fiat, rather than VW. Later that year, company CEO Osamu Suzuki announced he would end the alliance, and they started working through arbitration. Notification Concerning Resolution of Arbitration by Settlement As Suzuki has reached a settlement regarding the arbitration that Suzuki filed with the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce on 24 November 2011, Suzuki informs you of the following: 1. History from the Request for Arbitration to the Settlement As announced in the "Notification Concerning Arbitration Award" dated 30 August 2015, the Tribunal indicated that it would address the issue of alleged damages arising from Suzuki's breach of the agreement claimed by Volkswagen AG ("VW") in a further stage of the arbitration proceedings. Suzuki reached a settlement with VW in regard to such arbitration proceedings on 10 February 2016. Accordingly, the arbitration proceedings have been concluded. 2.

Regulators consider adding more carmakers to Takata recall

Tue, Sep 29 2015

Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal has been getting a lot of press recently, but the Takata airbag inflator affair could be grabbing headlines again soon. According to Bloomberg, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is contemplating an expansion to the campaign that could add seven automakers to the 12 already affected. They are Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Spartan Motors, Suzuki, Tesla, Volvo Trucks, and VW Group. To be clear, there's no recall for any of these automakers, yet. The government is simply asking for a full list of vehicles that each of them have with Takata-supplied inflators containing ammonium nitrate propellant. The agency is concerned this substance could play a roll in the ruptures. "NHTSA is considering not only whether to issue an administrative order that would coordinate the remedy programs associated with the current Takata recalls, but also whether such an order should include expansion of the current recalls," the letters say. All seven can be viewed, here. From a report supplied by Takata, the government already knows that the company supplied 887,055 inflators with ammonium-nitrate propellant to VW and 184,926 of them to Tesla. In an incident during the summer, a side airbag allegedly burst in a 2015 VW Tiguan. In early September, NHTSA put out a revised report that there were 23.4 million inflators to be replaced in 19.2 million vehicles in the US. An earlier accounting from the agency had about 34 million of the parts in 30 million cars. High humidity is still believed to be among the biggest risk factors for the ruptures. Although, if ammonium nitrate also gets the blame, some already recalled models might need to be repaired again. Related Video:

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
