I'm selling this beautiful Jetta GL it was for my sister but she has relocated into the city and doesn't commute by car anymore.

You are looking at:

One of the cleanest stock '01 Jetta's you'd see around, not only that but well kept.
The color is the favorite of many VDub owners Indigo Blue Pearl (code:LB5N).
It is a daily driver don't get me wrong, and it has a few (ONLY A FEW) little flaws on the body- Nothing major!
But when you pull the stick, the oil is clean and perfect in color, not black! No sludge in this engine.
Always run on 89 mid grade with ONLY 118k on the whole car this one is destined to go well over 250k.
This is a good car reliable in every way. The suspension is golden, the car drives smooth and idles at 890rpm. It doesn't get more ideal for a 2.0L VW four. I know this generation of Jetta very well. The MkIV Jetta is one of my favorite, and I will tell you straight up this is a great car.

The Only chronic issues Modern VWs ever encounter over 100k miles is electrical. It is a know fact though I love the Volkswagen brand dearly everything has a short coming... Well, Not this one! It's the GL trim, which although, yes, it's not fancy it is crank windows, has POWER LOCKS, a simple electrical system. You won't have the common broken/popping out window switch issues... or pesky electrical failings the way it happens with other Trim.

The Good:
Garage Kept - Never Seen Winter in a serious way! (just not used all that much)
Clean, Clean, Clean! Amazing condition- Engine, Undercarriage, Interior, Trunk!
New Timing Belt and Water Pump - Less than 1 Mile on the car since Done!
(Coolant Flush)
New DAYCO POLY RIB Serpentine Belt! (Less than 1 mile since installed)
Full sized Steel spare, with lots of tread.
Always Run on 89, all Highway Miles
Clutch was done at 50k by last owner.

The Bad:
Tires have okay tread, but are nearing time to be replaced.
Tear in Passenger's Inner CV axle boot.
(I can fix by replacing the whole half axle for $200 [Let me know])
Missing driver's side bumper grill, and black lower bumper lip.
Dent in Driver's side fender just back of headlight, and small rock chip divot in windshield

Link To More Photos Over 75 Pics!

Please Note- The Pictures where taken before the New Serpentine belt was installed.
And the Battery box "surround" IS properly, and securely in place. But was not at the time of photos.

You Will be Happy with this car! If you have any questions please contact me I am happy to answer any and all.

2023 Chicago Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery: See all the new cars from the show

Thu, Feb 16 2023

The 2023 Chicago Auto Show played host to a number of reveals this year, and we were there to capture all of them. In traditional auto show fashion, that means you’re getting a mega gallery of galleries to flip through and see all the vehicles on the show floor. Our EditorsÂ’ Picks from the show are already out — spoiler alert, the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander took home the prize. That said, there were other important reveals like the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport and the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. We also learned some interesting tidbits, such as the fact that VW is considering a pickup, and Jeep owners really are plugging in. To see the photos, scroll on down and start flipping through those galleries.   2024 Toyota Grand Highlander 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander View 7 Photos 2024 Volkswagen Atlas 2024 Volkswagen Atlas View 14 Photos 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport View 7 Photos 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with its carbon fiber wheels 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse with carbon fiber wheels View 7 Photos 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray View 10 Photos Jeep Wrangler Anniversary Editions Jeep Wrangler Anniversary Editions View 3 Photos 2023 BMW XM 2023 BMW XM View 6 Photos Ram Revolution Concept Ram Revolution Concept View 6 Photos NASCAR Chicago Street Race Pace Car — Toyota Camry NASCAR Chicago Street Race Pace Car ? VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun.
For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany.
In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe."

Ford Mustang Mach-E fails Sweden's moose test

Wed, Sep 29 2021

The infamous moose test has claimed another casualty. This time it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, which was tested in an electric four-way alongside the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Skoda Enyaq iV (an electric utility vehicle closely related to the Volkswagen ID.4 that is sold in the United States). According to the Swedish testers at Teknikens Varld, Ford's electric car not only failed to hit the speed necessary for a passing grade, it didn't perform well at slower speeds, either. To pass the outlet's moose test, a car has to complete a rapid left-right-straight S-shaped pattern marked by cones at a speed of at least 72 km/h (44.7 miles per hour). The test is designed to mimic the type of avoidance maneuver a driver would have to take in order to avoid hitting something that wandered into the road, which in Sweden may be a moose but could just as easily be a deer or some other member of the animal kingdom elsewhere in the world, or possibly a child or car backing into the motorway. Not only is the maneuver very aggressive, it's also performed with weights belted into each seat and more weight added to the cargo area to hit the vehicle's maximum allowable carrying capacity. The Mustang Mach-E only managed to complete the moose test at 68 km/h (42.3 mph), well below the passing-grade threshold. Even at much lower speeds, Teknikens Varld says the Mach-E (which boasts the highest carrying capacity and was therefore loaded with more weight than the rest of the vehicles tested in this quartet) is "too soft in the chassis" and suffers from "too slow steering." Proving that it is indeed possible to pass the test, the Hyundai and Skoda completed the maneuver at the 44.7-mph figure required for a passing grade and the Tesla did it at 46.6 mph, albeit with less weight in the cargo area. It's not clear whether other versions of the Mustang Mach-E would pass the test. It's also unknown if Ford will make any changes to its chassis tuning or electronic stability control software, as some other automakers have done after a poor performance from Teknikens Varld, to improve its performance in the moose test.
