2000 Blue Volkswagen Jetta GL TDI for sale with 162,904 miles! This car was from florida until I purchased it in February, 2008 with 117,102 miles on it. I bought it from a used car dealership in North Lauderdale, FL (AMB Autos) . I took it right to the Stuart Volkswagen who had been servicing this car for the original owner and spent $2,208.61 getting this car worked on for my drive home to Ohio. I had the following work done:
120K service (included Air Filter, fuel filter, filter element, brake fluid and an oil change)
(2) New Remote Key Fobs programmed
Front Brake Pads Replaced
Replaced Serpentine Belt
New Water Pump and Timing Belt and tensioner with coolant replaced
replaced low beam headlight
Recall on brake light switch (replaced switch)
New glow plug harness
In February 2010 I had the Alternator replaced (Paid $265.26 for rebuilt alternator and had it installed for and additional $250) and also replaced the battery for $75
In April 2012 when the car had 155,507 miles on it I had the automatic transmission completely rebuilt for a cost of $2,709.56 and it came with a 2 year warranty.
In February I had the rear brake caliper and pads and new rotors done for $400
In all I have spent $5858.43 on the car since I purchased it in February 2008 and the rebuilt transmission only has 7397 miles on it since being redone!! I have all the receipts verifying all of this work done. The car runs great and gets great mileage and has an AM/FM Radio with 6 CD Trunk changer. Comes with a full size spare tire (Goodyear Eagle). This Florida car has a very solid body with hardly any rust and just needs a good interior cleaning, a new windshield, hand brake cable replaced, some paint and clearcoat work and it will be like new and good to 300K miles!! Selling it at a steal of a price (reserve is $4,900) and can be bought right away for $6,900. Payment of security deposit needed in 24 hours and pickup of car with full payment must be completed in 1 week after end of auction. Reserve is set

NA auto output to reach 11-year peak
Thu, 13 Jun 2013According to Automotive News, automakers are expected to manufacture 16 million light vehicles in North America in 2013. That's up 500,000 units from last year and marks the largest number since 2002. The prediction comes courtesy of LMC Automotive and IHS Automotive, which point to the improving US economy as a bellwether for total production. LMC Automotive says North America will produce 16 million vehicles while IHS has a slightly more optimistic forecast of 16.1 million units. A total of seven automakers are slated to increase production on the continent this year. Nissan is set to see the largest jump at 20 percent over last year.
Volkswagen, meanwhile, is one of the only manufacturers predicted to scale back production. Analysts expect the German company's output to fall by 23 percent to 170,000 units, thanks in part to slow demand for the Volkswagen Passat and Jetta.
Watch the VW E-Golf get made
Fri, Jun 13 2014If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party. Touring the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Forgive the ribbon up top - this isn't so much of a Read This as a Look At This. Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites. If you're a fan of the weird and wild, this is a post you'll want to look at.
As RWP points out, this is the larger, but less busy, museum targeted purely at Volkswagen products. The smaller AutoStadt museum, meanwhile, covers a much broader swath, with products from other Volkswagen Group members.
