THE TIRES IN THE FRONT ARE NEW AND THE REAR ARE ABOUT 1 YEAR OLD. IN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE HAD IT TUNED, NEW WATERPUMP, THERMOSTAT AND TIMING BELT. THE STRUTS AND BRAKES HAVE ABOUT 4000 MILES ON THEM. THE BATTERY IS NEW ALSO. IT DOES NOT USE OR LEAK ANY FLUIDS. THE OIL IS CHANGED EVERY 3500 MILES WITH MOBIL1 10W30. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO ADD ANY OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND IT DOES NOT LEAK ANYTHING. THE BOTTOM ON THE CAR IS DRY AS A BONE. ANYTHING THE CAR HAS EVER NEED IT GOT WITH OUT QUESTION, NO SKIMPING. I REALLY HATE TO GET RID OF IT BUT THE TIME HAS COME THAT I NEED A 4WD TO GET TO WORK. I WILL MISS IT. OK NOW FOR THE NOT SO GOOD WHICH ISN'T ALL THAT BAD. THE EXHAUST HAS A RATTLE SOMETIMES. THE GLOVE BOX HANDLE IS BROKEN BUT YOU CAN STILL GET IT OPEN. I AM TOLD THIS IS COMMON ON JETTAS AND IS ABOUT A $10 FIX. THERE IS A SCRAPE ON THE REAR BUMPER WHICH I TOOK A PHOTO OF SO YOU CAN SEE. THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR HAVE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AS YOU CAN ALSO SEE IN THE PICTURES. ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND THE DEALER SAID IT NEEDS A COLUM HARNESS THAT WOULD COST ABOUT $100. OTHER THAN THAT I KNOW OF NO PROBLEMS. AS YOU CAN ALSO SEE FROM THE PICTURES THE PAINT SHINES LIKE GLASS. I WAXED THE CAR TWICE A YEAR. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT FIRST CAR FOR SOMEONE OR A COMMUTER CAR BECAUSE OF THE GREAT GAS MILAGE. OK THATS ABOUT ALL I CAN SAY. Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept is a 201-mph hot hatch

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

This, friends, is what happens when you shoehorn 395 horsepower into a Golf. You get a three-door hatch that will happily scurry to 62 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 201 mph. Oh yes, we like you, Golf R 400 Concept.
As we explained in our original post, the R 400 is the long-awaited successor to bonkers Golf creations like the GTI W12 from 2007 and, more recently, the Design Vision GTI. It's powered by the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder found in a number of Volkswagen (and Audi, SEAT and Skoda) products, although it's been heavily massaged to pump out 332 pound-feet of torque along side its amplified horsepower.
Naturally, it's been lowered and now rides on 19-inch wheels. Outside of those changes, though, mums the word on suspension and chassis enhancements. While this is a bummer, the striking looks of the Golf R 400 more than make up for it.

VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.

German judge 'inclined to dismiss' hedge fund lawsuit against Porsche

Fri, Feb 27 2015

Last year, around two dozen investors, including hedge funds, leveled a 1.4 billion euro ($1.95 billion at the time) lawsuit against Porsche in connection with the automaker's attempted takeover of Volkswagen in 2008. The Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the case. Around 19 of those plaintiffs are heading back to court to appeal the ruling and still hope to get 1.2 billion euros ($1.4 billion). However, according to one German judge, the chances for success aren't any better this time around. "On balance it's our view that we consider the lawsuit, or the appeal, to be unpromising for several reasons," Gerhard Ruf, a judge in Stuttgart, said to Reuters. "We are inclined to dismiss the case." The court's ruling on the appeal will be announced on March 26. The investors' case hinges on Porsche's strategy surrounding the botched takeover. The sports car maker said that it wasn't trying to control VW, when in fact it was. These hedge funds had bet against Volkswagen stock, but the share price surged when Porsche's plan inevitably came to light. Investors have sued the sports car company multiple times since then in attempts to recoup billions of dollars. However, none of the lawsuits have been successful, whether attempted in the US or Germany. Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and and CFO Holger Haerter might still stand trial for the alleged stock manipulation, though.
