1973 Mercedes 280SE 4.5, Its an automatic on the floor, sunroof, V8, fuel injected, cold blowing A/C, 4 door sedan. I purchased it 2012 from a gentleman who bought it 1994 off the MB dealer lot (because he wanted a classic car to take the grandkids for ice cream in) with only 42841 on the odometer, now its at 53713. Any time the car needed anything it he either sent it  to the MB dealer or to Hatch & sons which was a Boston area MB specialist.   Its been redone somewhere in its lifetime & they did a great job changing from brown to black. Body is in great shape except for some bubbling on left rear quarter (see pics) and it is an older paint job but still looks great. Interior also very nice except for a small crack on dash pad (see pics) and some wear on the rugs under the mats. The wood under the windshield looks to have been replaced because its like new. Tires are matching & like new all around, the muffler has been replaced recently with OE unit, and the battery is OE Mercedes & she starts up every time with no issues.  This is a VERY nice looking & driving vintage Benz. I just used it in my daughters wedding & it gets compliments all the time. As nice as it is it is still a 40+ year old car so its not perfect. Issues that I know of are that it leaves spots on garage floor under engine & rear differential, exhaust manifolds leak a bit, dash lights don't always work, odometer clocks miles but speedo doesn't work, original radio is touchy & only gets 1 or 2 stations in the area, plastic heater controls need replacing, right front window regulator doesn't close solid, and trunk leaks a bit from drain hose and their is some surface rust under the trunk mat (see pic), and I'm sure some other small issues I can't think of. All in all this is a VERY nice classic Mercedes that you can enjoy as is or restore to perfection. Feel free to call me with any questions. Marc 508.951.1335 Thanks & happy bidding!

Ford Mustang Mach-E fails Sweden's moose test

Wed, Sep 29 2021

The infamous moose test has claimed another casualty. This time it's the Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, which was tested in an electric four-way alongside the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Skoda Enyaq iV (an electric utility vehicle closely related to the Volkswagen ID.4 that is sold in the United States). According to the Swedish testers at Teknikens Varld, Ford's electric car not only failed to hit the speed necessary for a passing grade, it didn't perform well at slower speeds, either. To pass the outlet's moose test, a car has to complete a rapid left-right-straight S-shaped pattern marked by cones at a speed of at least 72 km/h (44.7 miles per hour). The test is designed to mimic the type of avoidance maneuver a driver would have to take in order to avoid hitting something that wandered into the road, which in Sweden may be a moose but could just as easily be a deer or some other member of the animal kingdom elsewhere in the world, or possibly a child or car backing into the motorway. Not only is the maneuver very aggressive, it's also performed with weights belted into each seat and more weight added to the cargo area to hit the vehicle's maximum allowable carrying capacity. The Mustang Mach-E only managed to complete the moose test at 68 km/h (42.3 mph), well below the passing-grade threshold. Even at much lower speeds, Teknikens Varld says the Mach-E (which boasts the highest carrying capacity and was therefore loaded with more weight than the rest of the vehicles tested in this quartet) is "too soft in the chassis" and suffers from "too slow steering." Proving that it is indeed possible to pass the test, the Hyundai and Skoda completed the maneuver at the 44.7-mph figure required for a passing grade and the Tesla did it at 46.6 mph, albeit with less weight in the cargo area. It's not clear whether other versions of the Mustang Mach-E would pass the test. It's also unknown if Ford will make any changes to its chassis tuning or electronic stability control software, as some other automakers have done after a poor performance from Teknikens Varld, to improve its performance in the moose test. VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.

EU formally questions French government assistance of Peugeot's finance arm

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Recently, the finance arm of PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was in such debt trouble that it was pricing itself out of the car loan market. The rates it was paying to service its debt, which was rated one step above junk, were so high that it was forced to charge car-buying customers higher rates than they could find elsewhere. This was adding to Peugeot's already impressive woes by sending revenue out the door to competitors.
Two months ago a deal was worked out with the French government whereby the state would provide 7 billion euro ($9 billion USD) in bonds to guarantee the finance arm's loans. The French government could nominate someone to join the Peugeot board, Peugeot would guarantee more French jobs, and on top of that deal, other banks would provide non-guaranteed loans. The government would take no equity stake in the car company.
Although not yet finalized, the arrangement is meant to create some breathing room for Peugeot Finance to lower its interest rates for customers, and a government-nominated board member, Louis Gallois, was recently named to Peugeot's supervisory board. The arrangement was also openly questioned by at least three competitors: Ford, Renault - which is 15-percent owned by the French government after it received state aid - and the German state of Lower Saxony, itself a 15-percent shareholder in Volkswagen.
