Tdi, 4 Dr, Hatchback 45-50 Mpg, Midnight Blue, Tow Hitch on 2040-cars
Kingman, Arizona, United States
1999 VW Golf TDI, 4 dr, hatchback, 5-speed manual transmission. Power sunroof. Very low mileage for a diesel at 152,050. Exterior virtually rust free and body in excellent condition. All four tires virtually new, less than 2,000 miles on them. Right front passenger door, though looks excellent, is difficult to get closed once open. Window on same door does not work and is currently in the "up" position. Most of the miles that we accumulated were on the highway between two cities in Arizona. One city at 4,000' elevation and the other at 1,000' elevation. Going uphill, the vehicle would average about 45 miles per gallon. Easily averaged 55+ mpg the other direction. Interior is tan cloth and in very good condition. No visible rips or tears. No cracks in dash. Vehicle has a lightweight tow hitch with which I could tow a lightweight landscape trailer. Receiver and lights installed by "U-Haul" and will remain with the vehicle along with the hitch. |

VW issues orders for police version of e-Golf
Thu, Sep 11 2014If the Toyota Prius could be used (in fiction, anyway) as a quiet way to do a drive-by shooting, then a pure electric vehicle should have some silent benefits for the police. It's happening in the real world thanks to the new police-spec VW e-Golf. On display at an international police equipment conference in Germany this week (the Internationalen Fachmesse fur Polizeiausrustung), the 5-0-ready EV has a special paint job as well as the required top lights and digital communications gear. VW says the special e-Golf also stands ready to serve the mission of emissions reduction. The powertrain is the same as what you'll find in the civilian e-Golf, which means an 85-kW electric motor that can zip up to 62 miles per hour in 10.4 seconds and a li-ion battery that provides something between 80 and 118 miles of range. We imagine using this little car for a high-speed car chase will shrink that down a bit. Volkswagen Konzern prasentiert Fahrzeuge mit Spezialausstattung auf Polizei-Fachmesse Internationale Premiere: Der e-Golf* als Polizei-Einsatzfahrzeug Der Volkswagen Konzern prasentiert eine breite Palette seiner Fahrzeugmodelle mit speziellen Polizei-Sonderausstattungen auf der 8. Internationalen Fachmesse fur Polizeiausrustung.
Volkswagen Golf R Variant ready to haul ass, stuff
Thu, Nov 20 2014Volkswagen seems to be playing a cruel trick on the American automotive public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's displaying its sexy Golf R Variant with no clear intention of actually selling the model here. The hot wagon launches in Europe in the spring, but the automaker makes absolutely no mention of the model's prospects in the US. Hopefully, its appearance in LA at least indicates VW is considering bringing it stateside. The great thing about this wagon is that it has everything that the regular Golf R offers, but there's even more room to carry stuff. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Performance is very close, too, with the Variant R taking 5.1 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour versus the 4.9 seconds the standard R needs to read 60 mph. The two of them also have the same tech goodies like ESC Sport stability control and multiple damping modes. The real advantage to opting for the estate is its ability to carry up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo in the back. This hot rod wagon would seem to be perfect for the family that needs to haul some extra junk in the trunk, but doesn't want to sacrifice performance. Whether the Variant R makes it to the US remains a mystery, though. Scroll down to read the specs and feel a twinge of jealousy.
