2009 Vw Gti Tornado Red On Interlagos 6-speed on 2040-cars
Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, United States
Hey there, I have for sale my 2009 VW GTI. Its tornado red with the interlagos interior, 6-speed manual transmission. The car currently has 63,3xx miles and will be going up since this car is my daily driver. Its mostly stock with the exception of a Unitronic Stage 1 tune, BSH Torque arm insert, Audi S3 short shit kit and ECS tuning smoked side markers on the front in place of the amber ones. I have the original ones available if you prefer those. Comes with the monster mats as shown, but I also have the original ones as well. Comes complete with all books and manuals. All tools and original spare tire as well. interior is in good shape with typical wear marks on the drivers seat and armrests. I dont smoke or eat in the car so its in very good condition. The only thing that doesnt work is the cd player, reason being a cd got stuck in it and displays "cd error" when selecting. All other features of the radio work and even has an aux input in the dash so you can listen to MP3 or stream audio if you wish. Car also has heated seats. The reason im selling is because after 3 years I want to get back into a BMW. Its been a great car but its time to move into something else.
Now time for a little history about this car. I bought it in November 2010 with 24,500 miles on the odometer. Apparently, this car was involved in an accident prior to me purchasing it. I inspected it personally before buying on a lift and could not find any evidence of a repair. The accident may have been very minor or whoever did the job did a very good repair. There is no frame damage, no salvage or rebuilt title either. the airbags were never deployed according to carfax so im not sure, they may have screwed up on their end. I have owned the car for 3 years and never gave me any issues or left me stranded. There are no misaligned hood gaps or body panels, no overspray anywhere on the car. When I tell people this they cant believe it was ever in an accident. I have all records since my purchase and receipts. I am a professional technician myself and performed all repairs myself. I have changed the oil every 5,000 miles with OEM VW filters and the recommended Castrol Syntec oil. At 50k I replaced the spark plugs, fuel and cabin filters and replaced the cabin air filter. The transmission shifts smooth and the clutch does not slip in any gear. I try to be as honest as I can in my descriptions since I understand some people may be coming from several hours away and nothing is more disappointing than seeing a car that has been misrepresented. if you are expecting a car with a perfect body then you will be disappointed since it does have typical rock chips, scratches and a few small dings for a daily driven car with 63k, but no huge dents or broken headlights or cracked foglights. The car is in very good shape and I think anyone who buys it will be very happy. I just inspected the car and the brakes are still at 9/32 front and 5/32 rear so those are still good for a while. The only thing I can see this car needing in the future are 4 tires since they are really getting worn. Around 5/32 on all them. I also have a set of Nokian RG2s mounted on a set of 16'' Audi A4 wheels that I run during the winter. They are literally brand new and have less than 5,000 miles on them which are awesome and really transform the car in the snow. I also have another OEM VW oil filter I will include as well. I can include these in the sale if you are interested. Again, if you are looking for a mechanically sound, adult driven GTI that is mostly stock then this is the one. Any more questions feel free to contact me at 703-727-6684. I live about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia. Trying to get $13k but will take any reasonable offer. |

VW invests in QuantumScape for potentially fireproof, long-range EV batteries
Mon, Dec 8 2014VW might be getting ready to push its plug-in technology in a big way thanks to an investment in the battery startup QuantumScape. Key point: the solid-state battery is said to be fireproof and will offer tremendous range advantages. Details are not abundant yet, but according to Bloomberg, VW of America bought a five-percent stake in QuantumScape (and has an option to raise its holding). The tech could "more than triple" the EV range of VW, Porsche and Audi plug-in vehicles as soon as the middle of 2015, according to unnamed sources that Bloomberg talked to. Former Stanford University researchers started QuantumScape in 2010. The bare-bones QuantumScape website (there's nothing there other than some contact information) doesn't offer many hints about what's happening at the company, but GigaOM's Katie Fehrenbacher notes that QuantumScape is licensing tech from the "All Electron Battery" project at Stanford a few years ago. It certainly sounds amazing: [It's] a completely new class of electrical energy storage devices for electric vehicles that has the potential to provide ultra-high energy and power densities, while enabling extremely high cycle life. The All-Electron Battery stores energy by moving electrons, rather than ions, and uses electron/hole redox instead of capacitive polarization of a double-layer. ... If successful, this project will develop a completely new paradigm in energy storage for electrified vehicles that could revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. If that's what's coming in a future e-Golf or E-Tron, sign us up.
VW recalls 1.1M Jetta, Beetle models in US, China over suspension fears
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Volkswagen is recalling about 1.1 million vehicles in China and North America in a newly announced campaign affecting the rear suspensions on some models. For the US, the action covers about 442,265 vehicles, including 400,602 examples of its 2011-2013 Jetta and 41,663 units of the 2012-2013 Beetle and Beetle Convertible. According to Reuters, the recall affects a further 126,000 vehicles in Canada and about 581,090 in China, including related market-specific models like the Sagitar.
The problem can occur if the affected models have a collision to the rear or the side-rear of the vehicle. It's then possible for the trailing arms on the torsion-beam rear suspension to be damaged. If the harm isn't noticed, then the part could fracture while driving. Obviously, a broken rear suspension is going to have an adverse effect on handling.
To fix things, VW dealers will inspect the trailing arms on the models, and they will all receive a sheetmetal part that will make a distinctive sound if broken in the future. If already damaged, the entire torsion beam will be replaced. Obviously, this work will be done at no charge to owners.
As VW electrifies, it questions the role of Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ducati
Wed, Sep 30 2020FRANKFURT — Volkswagen needs to change to stay relevant in the electric and digital vehicle era and will announce "important steps" to that end before the close of the year, Chief Executive Herbert Diess said on Wednesday. "Volkswagen needs to change: From a collection of valuable brands and fascinating combustion-engine products that thrill customers with superb engineering — to a digital company that reliably operates millions of mobility devices worldwide," Diess told shareholders at the company's virtual general meeting. Vehicles need to stay in contact with customers, offer new services and comfort functions on a weekly or even daily basis, he said. "We will take further important steps to set the course for this in the rest of 2020," Diess said. Senior executives told Reuters the company is reviewing what role its high-performance brands Lamborghini, Bugatti and Ducati will play as the company increasingly focuses on electric, digital and autonomous vehicles. Volkswagen, which also owns VW, Audi, Porsche, Seat and Skoda, is looking at whether it has the resources to accelerate development of electric platforms for smaller brands at a time it is investing billions to transform its more mainstream cars. Asked whether Ducati, which is known for making noisy combustion-engined motorbikes, has an electric future, Markus Duesmann, who oversees research and development for the group, said: "It will not take long until we see an electric Ducati." Whether Ducati, which is a medium-sized premium motorbike brand, would offer an electric variant, depends on whether a bike could offer range comparable to a combustion-engined variant, Duesmann said. Advances are being made in battery technology which could make this possible, he added. Separately Frank Witter, the company's chief financial officer, in response to a question about whether a sale of Lamborghini is planned, said Volkswagen does not comment on speculation about potential divestments. Lamborghini's Chief Executive Stefano Domenicali this week announced his departure from the sports car maker to take on a new job as president of Formula One. VW needs cash Volkswagen is reviewing the future of these three high-performance brands as part of broader quest for more economies of scale as it shifts to mass producing electric cars, senior executives told Reuters.
