For sale is a 2009 VW GTI. It's a four door hatch back with a six speed manual transmission. Driven a few times/week by my husband to work. It is factory certified until May 2014. There are a few scratches on the rear passenger door from someone opening their car door onto this car. BUMMER when that happens but it's superficial. I purchased the car from a dealer in Chicago and it had an accident on the car fax. The accident was a rear end collision that resulted in a ticket being issued. The rear bumper was repaired but did NOT need to be replaced and there was no other damage. The vehicle was certified after this accident. I replaced the brakes at 45,000 miles and the two front tires at that time. Why only the two front tires? Because I had a nick in the tire and had to have it replaced and the dealer recommended replacing two of the tires rather than just one. I am only looking to sell this vehicle for what I owe--not looking for a profit. We just don't drive it enough to justify keeping it. It is in good condition and you've got the peace of mind knowing it is covered for everything except wear-and-tear until next May. Just take it to a VW dealer. If you have questions, please email me. Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal
Wed, 13 Feb 2013The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. VW beams in Star Trek stars to promote e-Golf EV
Tue, Oct 7 2014Volkswagen just set its e-mobility commercial phasers on stunning. The German automaker has cast Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame (i.e., actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) in a new advertisement for its growing stable of electric vehicles. Even though it's in German, we think you can get the idea. VW went Hollywood and cast the two veteran actors in a futuristic-themed 45-second ad, which sees Shatner cruise up in the e-Golf (with a toothy Trek-fan kid in tow) while Nimoy rocks the XL1 and the Trek theme blares in the background. Forget for a moment that the kid in the commercial wasn't even born when Shatner started pitching for Priceline, let alone the original Trek series and just enjoy the wholesome good humor of Shatner saying that the electric powertrain is just like the one in a spaceship. If you've got any familiarity with Spock, you should be able to understand his punch line, too. VW will bring the e-Golf to the states in November at a price of $35,445, about $6,500 higher than the Nissan Leaf's starting pricetag. At last year's show, hydrogen fuel cell concepts from Honda and Toyota joined a lease-ready Hyundai Tucson FCEV to cast a green hue over the convention center. This year, automakers took us a step closer to a fuel cell future by offering drives of their hydrogen-electric hybrids.
