2006 Vw Gti Hatchback **new Engine & Clutch** on 2040-cars
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
I am selling my 2006 VW GTI Hatchback. This has been an amazing car for me, but unfortunately I need to sell it due to financial reasons. The car has been serviced by the dealer at every service interval up till now. Last year while being serviced the dealer noticed that the engine was having trouble maintaining the proper oil level, and after much inspection it was decided that the car needed a new engine. Volkswagon actually paid for the installation of a brand new engine in the car, and at the same time I had them install a brand new clutch as well. What this means is that the car is basically brand new, and only has about 10,000 miles on it with the new engine and clutch. I wish I could keep it because it could easily keep running for another 10 years or more!! I have the documented service report that details the engine and clutch installation if you would like to see it. The car is in good shape, just some minor cosmetic issues that are a result from normal use of the vehicle. The rear bumper has noticable wear from loading/unloading items from the trunk, also there are a few dings and scratches but overall it's in great shape. This car is a blast to drive, the turbo really makes it super fun and it gets almost 30 mpg on the highway. Car has roof rack installed, would be included in purchase or easily removed if you would like. Please let me know if you have any additional questions, thanks!

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program
Tue, 04 Oct 2011You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
