This car is in great shape, runs very smooth, is fast and fun to drive. Amazing 5 speed manual gear box. The car will definitely put a smile on your face every time you'll drive it.

The car has 76,000 miles. Very low mileage for this year. Great gas mileage, will save you a lot of money on gas but still give you the kick when driving.

The engine is 1.8 Turbo 24V 180 bhp and 173 torque. Its stock and well maintained. Runs great!

The gear box is 5 speed manual and the GTI gear boxes are one of the best for shifting. Smooth shifting and great feeling when driving.

Some of the interior features: Height adjustable sport bucket seats. Very comfortable. Folding rear seats that offers a lot of extra space. AC works beautifully. Leather steering and shifter. Very clean interior. The only down side is the cloth is a bit saggy here and there but this is typical VW.

Power locks, power sunroof power heated mirrors, power windows, cruise control, AM/FM in-dash single CD player,CD-controller stereo, 8 total premium speakers, Speed sensitive volume control.

17 inch Alloy wheels with tires in great shape. Spare tire in the trunk. Great cargo size.

And now the explanation to why the price is so low for such a low mileage because cars similar to this go with at least $8000. The car is a REBUILT title from a light river flood damage that caused some light damage in front. The car was cleaned and fixed and runs amazing since then. The car sells as is and the buyer is welcome to see it and drive it for himself to get confirmation that the car runs great.

This car was my daily driver for almost 3 years before i bought another car but i had no issues with it in 3 years other than i had to replace the thermostat, no lights went on in 3 years and the car has been very good to me but now is time to sell it and the next owner will be very happy with it.

This car will make a perfect first car, daily driver or a project car for the track, possibilities are endless.

Only serious local buyers will be accepted. The price is $6499 OBO.

You are welcome to come and see the car, test drive it, right now the car is parked on my drive-way so no extra miles will be added.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Volkswagen's De Silva says next Scirocco will be 'completely different'

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

From our perspective, the reborn Volkswagen Scirocco is a handsome (if squat) little thing. Yet design-wise, it's always struck us as uncomfortably close to the Golf three-door hatchback with which it shares its basic underpinnings. That aesthetic kinship may be part of the reason why Volkswagen has steadfastly refused to import the Scirocco to North America, seeing as how the Golf doesn't regularly set the company's sales charts alight, and it's less expensive.
But that visual similarity might be about to change, says Walter De Silva, who recently told Australia's Car Advice that, "It must be completely different... we don't want to repeat the bodystyle of the Scirocco, we want to change that." Further, the Volkswagen Group's design boss says that the next-generation car isn't terribly far along in development yet - "at the moment, it's only a studio [project]... it's not defined." It's probably just as well, as the new seventh-generation Golf arguably borrows some of its design from the current Scirocco anyway.
So we should expect a much bolder, more differentiated design, right? Well, yes, no and maybe. Back in September, De Silva himself was quoted as saying that the era of flamboyant styling has passed, and that future VW designs will be simpler to better reflect the times and preserve resale value. So... how different could it be?

Volkswagen Group names Paefgen head of classics program

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

You may remember the name Franz-Josef Paefgen. Until recently, the German engineer and executive was head of both Bentley and Bugatti. Before that he was chief executive of Audi, after working for several years at Ford. He technically "retired" earlier this year, but like the cars he helped create, an executive like Paefgen could never really retire. So it should come as little surprise that the Volkswagen Group has named Dr. Paefgen head of its Classic program.
In his new capacity, Paefgen will oversee the historic automobile activities of the entire VW Group, including those of Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, and of course Bentley and Bugatti. It strikes us as a suitable semi-retirement for the man responsible in no small part for the Bugatti Veyron and Bentley Mulsanne, to name just two, and who was decorated in 2006 by the ACO as the "Spirit of Le Mans" for his contribution to endurance racing. Read the official announcement after the break.
