2002 Vw Volkswagen Golf Gls Tdi Manual Engine Rebuilt 2012 50+ Mpg! Clean Title on 2040-cars
Fort Myers, Florida, United States
Don't be fooled by the mileage, engine rebuilt at 274,000 miles in 2012. I purchased this car in 2009 with 245k miles on it. Ran perfect until the timing belt went out on me while driving in 2012 (that's bad), bending 2 valves and requiring the cylinder head to be re-manufactured by National Cylinder Head Exchange (Have all receipts and pictures). So it basically has a new engine. The cylinders themselves appeared in great condition when the head was off which I try to show in the pictures. Reason for selling: My wife's Audi's transmission blew and we had to buy a 3rd car until we had the money to fix the audi. Audi is now fixed and we have 3 working cars and now I only live a mile from work. This was my "green" car that I loved and loved that it got 50MPG!! (but now I get to drive an Audi :) When the head was replaced I went all out and replaced everything I could including, from my memory and included receipts:
After the engine work, the airbag light came on and does not shut off. It must be a connector or sensor. The car HAS NOT been in an accident and airbags have NEVER been deployed. Has new rear tires, front have ~40% tread left. Brakes are good. ICE COLD AC (This is Florida). Florida car no rust at all. Car has premium sound with infinity rear speakers, touchscreen flip-out DVD player with USB and AUX input. Front door speakers are original but sound good.
The interior cloth is separating due to the Florida humidity (headliner and cloth on the doors). Easy fix with some spray glue but never bothered me. The only minor issue is at HIGH RPM, the synchronizer between 1st and 2nd gear will grind a little. If you drive like a normal person it is not an issue. Every other shift is smooth as butter. I have not replaced the brakes or clutch since I owned it but I don't hear, see or feel any issues with them. If there is anything I have missed I can be contacted through eBay. Just ask for my number if you want to discuss but dont want to post my phone number in the listing. I have made a brief video for you to view, thanks for bidding and you wont be disappointed in this car, I have already put my life savings towards repairing it! Just kidding. :) I will not ship or arrange shipping, it will be 100% the buyers responsibility to get the car, it is being sold AS IS with no warranty. However, I can pick you up from the airport if flying in to drive it back.

Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line
Mon, 14 Jan 2013
Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."
