We love this car so much! We just got a Passat wagon as we decided we finally need more space... We are the second owners, got car at 85,000 miles. Now at 235,000+... we consistently get 46-48 MPG (with a roof rack on!). Recently we took a road trip and got a whopping 52 MPG (still with rack on!).
The Really Good:
-Brand new timing belt and water pump done by VW of Orchard Park on August 23, 2013
-Intake manifold and ERG valve cleaned out by VW of Orchard Park on March 5, 2013
-Panzer Plate Heavy Duty Aluminum Skid Plate Kit installed from Dieselgeek.com
-4 matched snow tires used for one season on newer steel rims
-2 key fobs with a valet key
-manual included
-mp3 cable in glove box (ipod not included:)
-Other things replaced: parking break cables, right front window regulator clips, hatch lock cylinder, fuel door button, front windshield washer nozzles, struts for hatch, armrest, rear window wiper motor, rear brakes and rotors last year
The Bad:
-Surface rust starting. Needs some attention.
-Climate control: fan, heater, and AC DOES NOT WORK! As we were thinking of selling, we decided to fix the AC (the heater and fan had worked well always). Dealer stated we needed a new compressor. Purchased new behr compressor, and receiver/drier from autohausAZ. Local shop installed. Dealer confirmed installation was completely correct. NOW fan, heater, and AC do not work. Dealer troubleshooted for an hour, but we did not want to pay for further diagnosing. They feel it is a computer glitch or a loose connection of some sort. Probably a small fix for someone with the time to find it. Up until this time the heater had worked great and the fan is strong.
-Glove box handle broke (still can open fine)
-Rear window wiper spray does not work
-Homemade rear compartment cover strings that lift it up with the door (works perfectly good)
-Rear plastic interior around hatch is loose from my replacing the rear window motor. All stays in place just fine
-Driver's door lock cylinder is loose, needs pinned
We will be happy to deliver within 100 miles of Salamanca, NY.
Thanks for looking, this car is awesome!

Translogic 164: Driving the fuel cell vehicles of the 2014 LA Auto Show
Wed, Nov 26 2014The LA Auto Show is known for its environmentally friendly vehicle debuts. At last year's show, hydrogen fuel cell concepts from Honda and Toyota joined a lease-ready Hyundai Tucson FCEV to cast a green hue over the convention center. This year, automakers took us a step closer to a fuel cell future by offering drives of their hydrogen-electric hybrids. Translogic host Jonathon Buckley takes a ride in the Toyota Mirai, which is headed for production in 2016. He follows that with a spin in the Volkswagen Passat HyMotion and the Audi A7 Sportback h-tron quattro concept. Which of these fuel cell vehicles holds the most promise? Tune in to find out. Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?
Sun, Jul 9 2023The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric. Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands. If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla. Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor. Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have: Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.
