2001 Volkswagen Vw Gti Glx on 2040-cars
Imperial, Missouri, United States
I'd like to trade this car for a "1st Generation 4Runner".....or
sell it out right...I AM NOT INTERESTED IN ANY OTHER POSSIBLE
TRADES...please.
I've had the car about 3-4 years....my back and forth to work car...when I bought it, it had just received a new clutch. After I purchased it, I put new rotors and brakes on all fours, replaced the water pump/serpentine belt and tensioner, plugs and plug wires, black leather center consel lid, replaced the front tires (have since been replaced again), and intalled an AWE all-stainless catback exhaust, K&N filter intake (I think it is K&N but not sure....I just bought what "German Autoparts" supplied.....The car was inspected and passed in September 2013 after replacing the catalytic converter (cost me $1000). I have put several thousand dollars into the car and I know that some of it was maintenance but it currently has just over 166,000 miles and runs and sounds great. The windows are tinted and it looks really AWESOME but the passenger window just started peeling ($25 dollar fix-see photo). It has the 2.8L VR6 with a 5 speed manual. It's all black leather inside...no tears in the leather or the dash, however, the driver side seat back seam needs to be restitched about 3 inch length. This can be easily fixed but I just don't have the time. Windshield does have a crack in it about eight inches long on the passengers side but has not moved in the last 3 years that I've had it and the center counsel serving the back seat area has one missing endcap. It's a pretty car and sounds great...but I need a truck....I don't see many of these on the road...black on black with every option available for the GTI-GLX including sunroof, automatic climate control, cruise, tilt, all leather, stock fog lights and heated front seats. Everything works and it drives great. The engine light goes off and on for some reason ...I'm fairly certain that it's because the air intake hose is not completely sealed around the intake...I've tried wrestling with it but it tires me out...it runs like a race car and I've already replaced the catalytic coverter so I know it's not a high dollar item. Let me know what you would like to know about the car....I'll do my best to answer any questions. Thanks for looking! |

VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016
Mon, 13 Jan 2014On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn told European regulators that more stringent emissions standards too soon will be a major problem for automakers. He says that such moves could prove "fatal" for an auto industry that is still working to develop cleaner vehicles. "Every gram of CO2 that we save in our European fleet costs our group almost 100 million euros," says Winterkorn, "100 million that we have to invest in advance, without knowing when these investments pay off." He says that already creating emissions targets beyond those set for 2020 could harm European automakers competing globally. Read more at Automotive News Europe. When a Detroit Chevrolet dealership lost its Internet connection, it turned to one of its Chevy Volts for a temporary fix. After the regular connection at Buff Whelan Chevrolet went down, it plugged in a Volt showroom model equipped with 4G LTE, and used its connection to resume business. The car can handle up to seven connected devices, so the team used a Malibu to connect the rest of its computers. When a customer asked why the Volt was on, the team explained the whole situation, leading to one impressed customer. Read more at Automotive News. New investor allows Suzuki to fend off VW
Tue, Aug 4 2015After years of legal wrangling, the long-soured partnership between Volkswagen and Suzuki looks finally to be coming out of arbitration, according to Bloomberg. As a sign of the Japanese brand's improved fortunes, hedge fund Third Point LLC recently bought an undisclosed stake in the company. The investor reported seeing a major opportunity in the successful Maruti Suzuki business in India. As an investment, the only major problem that Third Point found with Suzuki was its legal battle with VW. "The company's greatest asset is its low-cost manufacturing process for vehicles for the emerging market consumer," the fund said in a letter, according to Bloomberg. Third Point reportedly also wants a seat on Suzuki's board, despite being a minority shareholder. The alliance between Suzuki and VW goes back to late 2009. In the deal, the Japanese brand was meant to get access to cutting-edge tech, and the German firm got a helping hand towards better establishing itself in India and Southeast Asia. Things didn't go as planned, though. Less than two years later, Suzuki's boss publicly derided the deal. Eventually, the allegations started going back and forth, and the two have been working out a way to untangle practically ever since. Among the biggest issue has been how to get back the 19.9 percent stake that VW purchased. According to Bloomberg, the arbitration is now technically over. With the divorce nearly final, the two sides are just waiting on a decision on how to split things up. Suzuki may even just buy VW's stake to get the shares back.
