1991 Volkswagen Golf Gl Hatchback 2-door 1.8l on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
This auction is for my '91 golf. 8v. My situation has changed and it just doesn't make sense for me to own a
car at the moment. I only drive 2 miles total a day during the week and
roughly 25-50 miles total on the weekend! I have a new scooter that I
have been using more regularly since spring and its time to move the Golf
along to another enthusiast who can continue to love and care for this
very clean dub. No mechanical issues at all! Runs great
and drives great! This is really a nice example of a solid &
reliable, daily driven Mk2. This car is by and far the most reliable and well sorted Mk2 Ive had the
pleasure to own in a very long time. Doesn't even have that typical 8v lifter clatter! Nice examples like this are
becoming very difficult to find for reasonable money. Don't miss this
opportunity! If you've been wanting a Mk2 for some time; NOW is the time
to buy! ALL
the neglected maintenance from 20+ years has been put right and brought up to date at great
pain and expense by me! This car needs nothing mechanically and
only very minor cosmetic attention. The few very minor "flaws" are listed below. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK!
The Good: NEW: Timing belt & roller (Dec 2013) NEW: Water pump, thermostat, accessory & alternator belts (Dec 2013) NEW: Battery & starter replaced (Dec 2013) NEW: Vacuum hoses (Dec 2013) NEW: Sylvania Ultra gold headlights (Dec 2013) NEW: Drive axle replaced (Dec 2013) NEW: Rear wheel bearings (Jan 2014) NEW: Shifter bushings & rear motor mount (Jan 2014) NEW: Tires & alignment (Mar 2014) NEW: Throttle cable and distributor (May 2014). .Clutch and trans are excellent and solid. (No grinds or pop-outs) Bonus goodies: .Bilstien sport/HD shocks w/ H&R springs. (Oct 2013) .Corrado front seats (no real wear or tear). (Feb 2014) .Custom stainless 2.5in Magnaflow exhaust (June 2014) .Original wheels in nice condition. .Several extra parts are included: including New rear drums, pads, wheel-cylinders, etc.. too much to list! The bad: .... NOTHING!......... Minor Flaws: . Few runs & over spray from repaint in (May 2013) . Power steering Res. is cracked and fluid must be topped off each month. . Headliner is solid but would look better re-covered . Cluster replaced with junkyard cluster (orig miles 126xxx) . No sunvisors installed (are included) . Needs an oil-change. |

Volkswagen offers Beetle Classic, priced from $20,195*
Tue, 23 Sep 2014The current Volkswagen Beetle already tries to be a fairly retro-looking ride by cribbing styling elements from the iconic original. However, for the new, limited-edition Classic model, VW is hopping into the time machine to grab even more vintage cues. The company is even cutting the price, perhaps in hopes of turning around flagging sales this year. You don't need to wait long for any of these upgrades either because the automaker says that the Classic goes on sale this week for $20,195, *excluding the $820 destination charge. That's $100 less than a bone-stock Beetle.
Starting as a standard Beetle with VW's 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, the Classic edition comes with a six-speed automatic and then adds some retro flair. It includes new vintage-look 17-inch wheels with simulated dog dish polished hubcaps over black spokes. It also comes with a rear spoiler, and the automaker is offering the model in Pure White, Black Uni, and Reflex Silver.
The interior mixes in a few more classic touches but includes modern amenities like a standard navigation system, satellite radio and multifunction steering wheel. However, the seats are finished in a two-tone design combining light brown leatherette on the sides and checked cloth centers, plus lumbar support for the driver's side. The shift knob and handbrake also get wrapped in leather.
VW Group plan puts Porsche in charge of a 'super-premium' division
Tue, Sep 11 2018An Automobile report looks into what's happening on the organizational and technical sides of the Volkswagen Group, and what those changes could mean for the premium brands. The wide-angle view is that Porsche appears to have been anointed to "coordinate the future activities" at Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. Audi would cede Lamborghini guardianship to Stuttgart, and Ducati — via a new concern called Ducati Enterprises — would become the shepherd for VW's other Italian investments. Executives target Jan. 1, 2019, to complete the reshuffle. VW wants to save a boodle by tying up four of its five top-tier brands, and putting the one with the highest ROI in charge. Porsche, within its own house, wants to reduce expenditures by $2.3 billion per year over for four years, the savings already earmarked for improving internal processes like R&D and production. Having Porsche share those gains as well as lead development of platforms, components and future-tech strategies for the sister sports car brands could benefit everyone. In the near-term, the brands have their own plans: Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann is said to want a Chiron Superleggera, a roofless and "completely reskinned" Chiron Aperta, and a track-only Chiron SS. The Superleggera could take the Chiron Sport's and Divo's Jenny Craig routines even further. The Aperta seems a natural successor to the Veyron Grand Sport, a natural evolution of the recently introduced Sky View roof, and a reskin might include numerous Divo cues. It's also said Bugatti's considering "an all-electric high-end model" in conjunction with Porsche, Rimac, and Dallara, but name one supercar or hypercar manufacturer that isn't considering a lightning-fast EV. Lamborghini, deep into work on follow-ups for the Huracan and Aventador, might get a bit of a bump with the new plan. The carbon "monofuselage" for the next V12 flagship is said to be too far developed and too complex to scrap. It puts two electric motors on the front axle, batteries in the middle, and a naturally aspirated V12 with around 770 horsepower plus another e-motor with 402 horsepower in back. The Huracan is said to get a version of the same carbon architecture at the moment, but the corporate reorganization might press pause on it. Automobile says options include continuing the Huracan/ Audi R8 twinning, but that depends on Audi saying "Ja" to a third-gen R8 with Lamborghini bones.
Translogic 168: CES 2015 Roundup
Wed, Jan 14 2015Translogic and the yearly CES glorious gadget geekout go together like digital peanut butter and high-def jelly. At this year's show, surrounded by an egg-shaped Mercedes-Benz concept and the re-introduction of, of all things, the Sony Walkman, we had some fun. Between talking with Volkswagen about its new gesture-control tech and flying some video drones, we squeezed in some time to shred on ZBoard's new electric skateboard. The future is now.
