Beautiful 2003 Eurovan MV Westfalia Weekender - last year and model imported to the USA. How assuring it is to jump in and just go knowing you have your home with you. Great daily-driver, family mover as well.
Well-maintained: Two years and 37,000 miles on a brand new Volkswagen of America complete 2.8L VR6 engine replacement with all the bells and whistles by the best German shop in the state making it showroom new. New this year; rotors, brakes and Perelli PZero Nero All-season radials. Interior and exterior are in great condition. Seats 7 and sleeps four (or 5 if you have small kids). The odometer reads 202,300. This vehicle runs great and looks fantastic. It has good power, is efficient, the A/C is icy cold, has power windows, locks, alarm, cruise control and more. There is heat in front* and back with rear controls. You can drive 85 all day, maintain speeds on hills, stay warm or cool in quiet comfort - a far cry from its ancestors, the beloved VW Transporter and Vanagon of yesteryear - I know, I've had several and own a Baywindow now as well.
Everything is there. No missing pieces, parts, trim, cup holders etc - it's all there and complete. Original manual and remote keyless entry. This car is fun and unique - actually you can't call it a car. It's the Swiss-Army knife of vehicles. You won't find your neighbors driving one!
Extras: Chrome 19" alloy rims, legal front Euro marker lights, silvered-out black trim, tinted windows, front torsion bar cranked down a bit for better look and handling.
Versatile: Westfalia Weekenders come with pop-top sleeper upper bunk, curtains, refrigerator, fold-out table, auxiliary battery, lower fold down bed, rear heat, removable captains chair and more. Inluded is a power inverter with two plugs as well as a USB charger. We plug in a 42" flat screen and the PS3 in place of the removeable captains chair for roadtrips and it's a huge hit for games and videos. You can even run the inverter with the car off because it, all 3 other 12V power plugs, refridgerator and the rear lighting all run off the auxillary battery only; which is charged by the car, but doesn't draw from the engine battery.
Condition: Just had a complete transmission service with a clean bill of health. The torque converter however is showing signs of wear.
A leaking *heater core is bypassed right now and the brand new heater core is included. Everything else works correctly as designed.
The roof clear coat is peeling in a few spots, but it's taller than can bee seen. I put a patch along a weak strip on the canvas (note pictures) and it works just fine. Time for new front shocks. Minor wear and tear, but much better than you'd expect with the miles on the body. I'm a stickler about touching up little rock chips, keeping the interior clean, keeping the paint waxed etc. Does not drip, seep or burn a drop of oil. These are my reports and diagonisis with no guarantee. I want to be as fully disclosed as possible. The car is "as is" and may be viewed and tested prior to the sell anytime.
100% rust and corrosion-free. We drive the vehicle 3-4 times a week and keep it sparkling clean. Always garaged. 100% synthetic oil every change. Stock wheels also available (recieve a $400 discount with the stock wheels in place of the 19" alloys). Clear title in hand. The front left quarter panel was repainted in it's first year of service in 2004 from some accident with the first owner of which I have no details. There's not even a minor sign of that incident on the vehicle. I'm the second owner. We were the front car in a stoplight bump in which the car behind me got bumped in to us. No repairs where needed, but that incident shows on the car report along with the one in 2004.
Smiles in every mile.
No Reserve.

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."
VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans
Thu, 24 Jul 2014During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
VW makes $9.2B offer for rest of truckmaker Scania
Sun, 23 Feb 2014Volkswagen owns or has controlling interests in three commercial truck operations: besides its own, VW began buying shares in Sweden's Scania in 2000 and now controls 89.2 percent of its shares and 62.6 percent of its capital, then bought into Germany's Man in 2006 - in order to prevent Man from trying to take over Scania - and now owns 75 percent of it. The car company has managed to work out 200 million euros in savings, but believes it can unlock a total of 650 million euros in savings if it takes outright control of Scania and can spread more common parts among the three divisions.
It has proposed a 6.7-billion-euro ($9.2 billion) buyout, but according to a Bloomberg report, Scania's minority investors don't appear inclined to the deal. Although effectively controlled by VW, Scania is an independently-listed Swedish company, and a profitable one at that: in the January-September 2013 period its operating profit was 9.4 percent compared to Man's 0.4 percent. Some of the other shareholders believe that Scania is better off on its own and will not approve the deal, some have asked an auditor to look into the potential conflict of interest between VW and Man, while some are willing to examine the deal and "make an evaluation based on what a long-term owner finds is good," which might not be just "the stock market price plus a few percent." The buyout will only be official assuming VW can reach the 90-percent share threshold that Swedish law mandates for a squeeze-out.
Many of the arguments against boil down to investors believing that Scania's Swedishness and unique offerings are what keep it profitable, and ownership by the German car company will kill that. (Have we heard that somewhere before?) If Volkswagen can buy that additional 0.8-percent share in Scania, perhaps its buyout wrangling with Man will give it an idea of what it's in for: "dozens" of minority investors in the German truckmaker have filed cases against VW, seeking higher prices for their shares. It is likely only to delay the inevitable, though. If VW is really going to compete with Daimler and Volvo in the truck market, it has to get the size, clout and savings to do so.
