2000 Volkswagen Eurovan Mv Van Camper 3-door 2.8l on 2040-cars
Midland, Michigan, United States
This van/camper is the perfect getaway vehicle for the weekend. It has a removable seat to allow for more floor space if the queen bed is pulled out. All of the foam for the beds and seats is in perfect condition with the exception of a small tear in the driver seat caused by one of the springs. There is a small tear in the upholstery of the sliding door. There is a small dent near the driver side window. There are the normal amount of small dings for a vehicle of this age. There is a manufacturer defect in the clear coat on the exterior hood some of that is peeling off. The pop up part of the roof is dulled. The gas door has some rust and should be replaced at some point. Some of the hooks for the curtains are missing but can be purchased cheaply online. One cup holder is missing the bottom but is still usable. There are 7 cup holders total. The pop up table is in excellent shape. The small refrigerator located under one of the back facing seats is clean and odor free. It has its own battery which is in great shape and the refrigerator runs but does not get cold. May need some coolant replaced. The flooring is in excellent shape, the full size mat on the floor is in good shape with the exception of the drivers side. The arm of the driver's side seat is loose. We are the second owners. We purchased it off of Ebay from a man in Clinton WI. There has never been any smoking done in this vehicle. The antenna for the radio has broken off but stations are still coming in. There are multiple adapter outlets through out the van.
We used this van for weekend camping and to take our son to soccer tournaments. It worked out great for that purpose. He was able to lay down between games and nap or go in there and change his clothes. We also took if for a week long trip to camp in Wisconsin. We had 2 adults and 2 middle aged kids and a black lab. We did fine in it even though it rained most of the weekend. There is plenty of storage space in the back behind the seat and also under the seat. We were able to pack all we needed in the van for that week long trip including a kitchen tent, camp stove etc. It is a very fun van. We hate to sell it but our kids are grown and we just can't justify keeping it any longer. The van has been kept up mechanically by an excellent mechanic that specializes in Volkswagen. This vehicle is for pick up only. We will not be delivering it to the purchaser unless the purchaser makes the arrangements for it to be shipped. Payment will be cash or paypal. The Kelly Blue Book price for this van in poor condition (which this van is not in poor condition) is $14,800.00 because it has the weekender package. |

MotorWeek looks back at the 1986.5 VW Scirocco 16V
Wed, Jan 21 2015It's back to the past with MotorWeek for a video dive into the 1986.5 Volkswagen Scirocco 16V, the coupe that carried the pennant for VW's performance aspirations for 15 years, from 1974 to 1989. This one, the last generation, got the hottest of all by adding a head with four valves per cylinder. The 1.8-liter DOHC engine cranked out "an amazing" 123 horsepower and 120 pound-feet of torque, and made this model the fastest VW to ever be sold in America; it went from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.5 seconds, faster than a Porsche 944. To compare vintage apples to modern ones, the New Scirocco with a 123-hp 1.4-liter TSI engine and a manual transmission takes 9.3 seconds. We like MotorWeek's Retro Review series not only for the cars, but for how they also remind us of what we used to find important in cars. The Scirocco here gets upvoted for its throttle response and handling, downvoted for an oddly placed oil pressure gauge and lack of battery voltage meter. We can't remember the last time a voltage meter was mentioned in a review, either its presence or lack. Check out the video above for what the definition of "US hot hatch" used to be.
Audi CVT suit settlement given green light, 64,000 cars covered
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Audi drivers, listen up. If you bought or leased a 2002-06 model-year A4 or A6 with a factory-installed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that failed, you may be entitled to reimbursement under a recently settled class-action lawsuit with corporate parent Volkswagen.
According to Automotive News, the settlement covers about 64,000 vehicles and alleges that "manufacturing and design problems caused the transmissions to fail and left owners stuck with repair costs." While the suit also argues Audi was aware of these issues (going so far as to hide that knowledge from consumers), the settlement stops short of acknowledging any wrongdoing by the German automaker.
Audi drivers are eligible for a cash reimbursement if their CVT repairs occurred within 10 years or 100,000 miles of the date they bought or leased the vehicle before June 19, 2013. To be eligible for compensation, drivers must submit a claim form (found here) with supporting documents by November 18.
Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
