1997 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper Van Camper 3-door 2.8l on 2040-cars
Leadville, Colorado, United States
I have owned this VW
Eurovan Camper for over one year. I originally purchased the van from a
photographer in Boulder while I was living in Boulder, CO. I was a weekend
warrior in the van until this past summer. I lived in the van for over 4 months
while touring national parks of the west. I had always dreamed of visiting the
splendors of the west on my own schedule and this was the perfect vehicle for
my travels. I have a lifetime of photos and memories from my trip. Fellow VW
owners and other car campers made my trip unforgettable. If you have always dreamed
on traveling in comfort and simplicity, look no further than this reliable RV.
Be prepared you are about to join an elite group of Eurovan Camper owners and
adventurers. Long conversations will ensue about travels and the joy of owning
one of these unique vehicles. I have all the original paper work and
pamphlets neatly organized in a binder with page protectors. I have documented
and saved all receipts and maintenance records. First and foremost this van is
mechanically sound. All maintenance while I owned it and the previous owner
owned it was performed by Indian Peaks Auto (303-413-1163), located at 5757
Arapahoe Ave #D1 in Boulder, CO. These guys are the VW professionals in Boulder
and they can attest to the meticulous maintenance this van has undergone. New
front brake rotors were recently installed by Young’s Ole Volks Home in Bend,
OR. New rear muffler was also recently installed. The previous owner had the vehicle lifted 2
inches and also had 16inch tires installed from the factory 15inch. If you are
doing any kind of adventures in this vehicle or any VW Eurovan Camper, I highly
recommend having this essential upgrade done. I had previously test drove a non-lifted
VW Eurovan Camper and the handling difference is night and day. I encourage you
to do your own research and determine for yourself that the lifted vehicles are
superior. Also it should be noted that the lift provides additional clearance
for the low hanging LP tank and accessories. From the carfax reports I have run, I’m
told I am the 4th owner. During my time as owner I wanted to upgrade
and replace a few things to ensure I would have worry free and comfortable
travels. I designed and installed an adjustable plexi glass organizing system
in the rear wardrobe. I installed new Pioneer speakers throughout the cabin for
a clearer and crisp music experience. I installed a new battery operated Carbon
Monoxide Detector and a new Liquid Petroleum (LP) and Carbon Monoxide detector
that is hardwired into the auxiliary battery. I also installed new heavy duty
locking pop top struts. I also installed a Yakima Roof Rack System and Thule
Ascent 1100 Cargo box for additional gear storage. I had a custom made flannel
fitted sheet for the rear bed. I also purchased a GoWesty Memory foam mattress
topper. New struts on the top above the sink were also installed. There are
custom fitted heavy duty floor mats for the driver and passenger. I took the
time to also cut and install rubber shelving mats in all of the cabinets. I have also installed a K&N air filter. As a camper this vehicle has performed
flawlessly. The LP heater works amazing and can run on & off all night,
because it is supported by an upgraded heavy duty auxiliary battery. The fridge
works great and is normally run at 2 on the scale of 1-5 for cold because of
how efficient it is. Both stove burners work and can be lit at the same time, although
the owner’s manual does not recommend this. The tables work great for eating or
working and both seats swivel around for various seating configurations. Areas of the vehicle that should be
addressed are a crack on the lower portion of the driver side windshield. This
crack has not expanded or grown from the time I have purchased the vehicle,
even with the diverse climate here in Colorado. Since the crack did not spread,
I could not justify replacing the windshield. Minor screen damage on the pop
top camper, please see photos and video. I have done my best to stitch and
repair this screen. These campers in my experience are notorious for screen
damage. Dent from previous owner in the rear hatch on the driver side, please see
photos. Minor scratches on the front of the vehicle from normal road wear.
There was previously an awning installed on the passenger side of the vehicle
that I had removed and body filled back up. Each hole was not bigger than a
dime and was properly repaired. I have taken and uploaded over 100 pictures and a video to flicker, so potential buyers can see every aspect of the vehicle. I have no problem allowing test drives for potential buyers or answering any questions. This vehicle and the trips taken in it have been a highlight of my life. I have full confidence in selling this vehicle as a mechanically sound and clean van. Please note that the bike rack & bike pictured are not included with the sale of this vehicle. |

VW admits 430,000 2016 models have implausible CO2 ratings
Mon, Nov 16 2015Volkswagen finally explained more details about its CO2 rating scandal in Europe and admitted that 430,046 of the estimated 800,000 affected vehicles with "implausible" figures came from the 2016 model year. They included some from Audi, Seat, Skoda, VW, and VW Commercial Vehicles, according to the automaker's list (as a PDF). The problem mostly impacts diesel engines, but the inventory also shows some gasoline mills. VW will next determine the accurate CO2 emissions for these vehicles, and the German Federal Vehicle and Transport Authority will supervise that process to ensure the data's veracity. The automaker will also launch websites in Europe to let owners enter their model's VIN to check whether it's affected. Because governments there often link vehicle taxes and CO2 production, the company promises to work with regulators in each country to cover any fees that result from the inaccurate figures. VW announced the CO2 scandal earlier in November and estimated the equivalent of $2.2 billion to fix it at the time. A later report claimed that a group of engineers were responsible for fabricating the emissions data. They allegedly couldn't meet reduction goals from Martin Winterkorn, and between 2013 and this spring the workers did things like overinflate the tires during testing to achieve the desired results. VW is also closer to a fix in the diesel emissions scandal. According to an anonymous insider to Bloomberg, the company has a repair for the 1.6-liter engine that's reportedly neither very complex nor expensive. German regulators would still need to approve the solution before it could roll out to owners. Next step in clarifying the CO2 issue Affected Volkswagen Group models of the current model year have been identified Customers being informed via website Discussions with the authorities have begun The Volkswagen Group reports that the vehicles of the 2016 model year affected by the CO2 issue have been identified. There is thus now clarity about the new vehicles of the current model year out in the marketplace. On 3 November 2015, the Group had already reported that irregularities may have arisen in determining the CO2 figures for type approval of around 800,000 vehicles. This was identified during its own currently ongoing investigations and had been made public. The internal investigations into the current vehicles of the 2016 model year provide results for narrowing down the actually affected vehicles with implausible CO2 figures.
Germany says nein to EU ban on new fossil-fuel cars from 2035
Tue, Jun 21 2022BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's government will not agree to European Union plans to effectively ban the sale of new cars with combustion engines from 2035, Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Tuesday. In its bid to cut planet-warming emissions by 55% by 2030 from 1990 levels, the European Commission has proposed a 100% reduction in CO2 emissions from new cars by 2035. That means it would be impossible to sell combustion engine cars from then. European Parliament lawmakers backed the proposals this month, before negotiations with EU countries on the final law take place. Speaking at an event hosted by Germany's BDI industry association, Lindner said there would continue to be niches for combustion engines so a ban was wrong and said the government would not agree to this European legislation. Lindner, a member of the pro-business Free Democrats, which shares power with the Social Democrats and Greens, said Germany would still be a leading market for electric vehicles. Lamborghini could be sold or spun off from the Volkswagen Group
Sat, Oct 12 2019Volkswagen is reportedly considering a sale or stock listing for its high-end Lamborghini brand. The German automaker is looking to fold the Italian supercar brand into a separate legal entity, reports Bloomberg, which cites "people familiar with the matter" who don't want to be identified "because the deliberations are confidential and no decisions have been made." Any of this sound familiar? The goal of spinning off Lamborghini would be to stockpile more cash and other resources for VW's massive planned push into electric vehicles. Back in March, reports circulated that Volkswagen's "Vision 2030" corporate plan might include plans to focus on the brand's core brands — VW, Audi and Porsche. That means the futures of fringe players like Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, motorcycle brand Ducati and design firm Italdesign (and note this isn't a comprehensive list of brand's under the expansive VW Group umbrella) are up in the air. VW, according to the report, is targeting a market value of $220 billion, which is a big jump from the brand's current $89 billion valuation. Bloomberg pegged Lamborghini's valuation at around $11 billion back in August, buoyed by sales and profits generated by the introduction of the Urus sport utility vehicle. On the flip side, Lamborghini is currently grappling with how best to update its supercar lineup in the face of ever-increasing emissions regulations.
