93 Eurovan MV for restore or parts, near Gettysburg PA. IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE: 3 day auction, no reserve, MUST BE MOVED BY MAY 24th, 5 pm. I've got 75+ guests coming in next weekend, and need my old friend out of the way. If van is not moved by then, the 175 deposit is forfeited as I need to move it some other way and pay my ebay fee. Thanks.
The van: one day it wouldn't start (no whir, r-r-r-r. no nothing). We had several vehicles so I didn't fix it, but as it was my daughter's favorite, I held on to it. Never fixed it. Time to let it go to someone that can use it (or use parts of it).
THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY:
THE GOOD: until it didn't start (starter? solenoid?) the engine ran well and the transmission worked well. Seat upholstery is in good shape. HUGE luggage area in rear. Fold down back seat to connect to uphosltered cargo area and it makes a very large bed. Cool rear seat arrangement faces each other with fold out table (this is what my daughter loved). Water pump and timing belt replaced some years ago.
THE BAD: a.) not running [see above] b.) worse: hasn't been run in several years (don't remember when, but the inspection sticker expired July 2010. I would imagine the fuel injection system would be pretty gummed up, aside from other problems of sitting idle. c.) when it was running, the AC didn't work d.) van needed - and still would need - a new tensioner for the serpentine belt. Not long before it stopped starting, I'd replaced the serpentine belt but didn't replace the tensioner. The old tensioner had gotten stiff, and so it made the new belt squeal. It ran fine, but was noisy. d.) missing sliding window on passenger side rear door, damaged mirror on driver side, some loose panels inside e.) latch doesn't snap tight on rear door, f.) driver seat very hard to shift postion, sometimes I've had to unbolt to change f.) various other issues of a twenty year old van that has been sitting a while that are not coming to mind right now
THE UGLY: faded paint (especially on hood and roof), bend in hood where someone tried to shut it with the brace in place, a bit of rust on lower sides, dirty carpet
IMPORTANT: We have about 75+ guests coming next weekend. THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION WITH NO RESERVE. VAN MUST BE PICKED UP BY MAY 24th 5PM at the latest. Buyer must put down $175 deposit that will not be refunded if you do not have the van moved by May 24th at 5pm. There is a salvage yard nearby that might pick it up and hold it for a few days for a fee, but you would need to arrange that with them. Nice guys, I think they'd do it for a fair rate. Thanks! -questions, submit Q to seller or call Scott at 717 321 3321.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?
Mon, 11 Feb 2013This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.
VW to announce $1B investment in Mexico plant
Sun, Mar 8 2015Big news south of the border could be slated for later this week, as Automotive News is reporting that the Volkswagen Group will announce a $1-billion investment in the company's Puebla factory. The company officially declined to comment, but AN is claiming the investment in the Puebla facility, which has been operating for over five decades, will add 1,900 jobs to the nearly 16,000-strong workforce. According to AN, a person familiar with the situation in Puebla claims the investment will support production of the next-generation Tiguan, slated to arrive in 2017. The Puebla factory currently produces Golf, while total output last year nearly hit half a million vehicles, or about 15 percent of Mexico's total automotive output. Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise
Thu, Jan 10 2019Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative.
