1993 Volkswagen Eurovan MV Weekender Edition Welcome to our auction of this Eurovan. We purchased this last fall as a weekend camping vehicle after the prior owner passed away. They did a lot of work on this which will be listed below. I have slept in it for 4 nights and it is very comfortable. The rear seat lays flat to make a queen size bed. It has custom black out panels that cover every window for sleeping and changing clothes. The table flips up for lunch and dinner and folds out of the way when not in use. We have driven this to Houston TX and back to Michigan this past January. Last year, it was driven to Yellowstone National Park. This is a nice weekend driver/camper and drives straight, stops well, and idles smoothly. We are remodeling our kitchen (cabinets are expensive) and have decided we do not need a camping vehicle as we have two daily drivers. OVER $4,171.00 Parts have been installed since 2012! The Good: Both electric windows roll up and down just fine Both electric side mirrors work (passenger mirror moves slow) All lights, turn signals, horn, flasher, etc work Newer Struts and Shocks ( Aug. 2012) Newer Steering Rack and Pinion ( Aug. 2012) Newer Upper and Lower Ball Joints ( Aug. 2012) Muffler ( Mar. 2012) Distributer and Assembly (April 2012) Rebuilt Short Block Engine, Engine block machined, new bearings, rings, seals, and gaskets (2012) at approx. 190,000 miles Timing Belt (April 2012) New Plugs, wires and distributer cap ( Feb. 2014) Sony USB Port Radio Rear Cargo Hitch/Platform. Custom black-out panels to cover all interior windows when camping. The Bad: I want to be sure you know what you are buying so I am listed every little thing that I have noticed is wrong. Mechanical: -I want to be up front with this. It has a major Transmission leak! Needs a quart of fluid every 120-150 miles. It still drives good, as I am very diligent about replacing the fluid. It leaks mostly out the front transmission seal. It is a $12 dollar part. The catch? You have to remove the entire transmission to replace it. Which is why I have not replaced it or had it replaced by a professional. -Transmission Oil Pressure Switch: This light and alarm sounds on long drives when driving at 45-55mph. The dealership and local service station has stated that the engine and transmission would immediately die if it really was out of oil pressure and because it still runs fine, it is most likely the oil pressure switch needing replacement. Again, I drove this to Houston, TX and back with it in this condition. -There is a slow coolant leak somewhere in the radiator or front hoses, I can smell it but cannot find it. Every couple weeks of driving, it lowers to the fill line and I top it off. -Heater core is not connected. The plastic tube that connects the heater core inside the cabin to the engine bay broke, so I have bypassed the heater core. It does not effect the engine, only the heat once winter comes back. This part is 127.00 but you have to take the entire dash out to get to it. Since I was only going to use as a summer camping vehicle, I did not bother replacing it. It should be replaced by next fall if you want this to be your daily driver. -Exterior: The corners of the bumpers have the typical scuffs, dents, paint issues of a vehicle this age. -Under the passenger rear window, several little rust spots starting to appear. Look at the images -Rear hatch has a small rust spot that has been primered over by previous owner about 2x3 inches -Under the driver door, a long dent and primered spot. Looks like they drove into a low standing object. -Passenger side mirror has black tape covering a cracked housing. -Radio antenna only has a base, actual antenna is missing. Still can listen to radio, just doesn't pick up if your in the middle of nowhere (I use the USB so I listen to all the songs/books on tape from my computer) Interior: -I have never figured out how the use the A/C Heater controls. When set to defroster the fans work at all speeds. When set to heat, the fans do not work (again heater core is not connected so there is no heat output). I have heard these controls have issues on the Eurovans. -Missing passenger side B- pillar interior trim. -Typical stains on carpet and seats of a vehicle of this age. -Passenger seat armrest is broken. -Passenger door auto-lock does not work. It stays locked 24-7. You have to use the key to open the door. -Parts of the black trim on the dash have been cracked and taped together. -Shifter knob has part of the rubber is missing. -Missing the 3 headrests for the rear bench seat. We live in the middle of MI, Mt. Pleasant. The closest airport is in Saginaw (MBS). We will come meet you there for free if you fly into there. For an additional $50.00 we will drive to Grand Rapids Airport (Gerald R. Ford International Airport). For 100.00, we will drive to Detroit airport (Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport) to pick you up. I also have a short video of me driving the van. My phone died as I was recording but you can see it in action. I will try to record another and put on youtube this week. I have many more images and can take additional images if you email me. If you have any questions please call 845-235-716, leave a message and I will call you back. Thanks. |

VW teams up with legendary electronic musicians Kraftwerk for 3D Autobahn concert
Fri, Jan 9 2015Electronic music fans know Kraftwerk. To paraphrase a famous TV anchor, they're kind of a big deal. The band is in the midst of an eight-concert show at Berlin's Neue Nationalgalerie, which includes a full 3D accompaniment. Why, you ask, is this on Autoblog, then? Well, Volkswagen is sponsoring it, highlighting the role that its iconic Beetle played on the band's equally iconic fourth album, Autobahn. And besides, it's Friday afternoon, and who doesn't want to listen to the soothing synth notes of early EDM pioneers? Check out the featurette on the connection between VW and Kraftwerk, and then for giggles, scroll down and give the first track of Autobahn a listen. This content is hosted by a third party.
