      1955 Standard KOMBI  Model Barn door, bus that in my opinion is in excellent show quality museum condition .
      Listing this german gem for a friend , at this point in his life his priorities have changed and he decided to invest his time and money in other things that are more relevant for him at  this stage of his life .

****international buyers are welcomed*** buyer responsible for any shipping cost , transportation expenses, registration fees and any taxes associated with the purchase of this antique vehicle *****

    This a 20 year project  rebuilt/restored with original german parts  including many new old stock  that the owner has been gathering  for the past 2 decades to make this dream possible. This bus is a multiple award winner and there is documentation that comes with this bus including pictures and a copy of the "birth certificate"  from Germany  and California dmv title

    According to the  "birth certificate" from  "stiftung AutoMuseum" in germany  this bus was produced in germany on January, 19th, 1955 and was delivered to Competition Motors Ltd, Hollywood, California. on   Christmas eve Dec. 24th 1955 ,   the second owner  in 1965  was Mr. Cruz , till 1994  when the current owner Mr J. Gallardo of San Diego California purchased it and began the restoration.

   This model bus came from the factory in Germany as a KOMBI  (shiebetur rechts) but in 1994 Mr Gallardo got this rare barndoor bus and he had his mind clear that this bus needed to be rebuilt/"restored" better than what  the factory produced in 1955  bringing this bus back to life as an 11 window barndoor kombi/deluxe   with "deluxe" features   including a fresh air  a scoop in the front, deluxe polished aluminum trim all around the belt line, two tone paint scheme , correct  1955 stamped 16 " wheels including chromed  hub caps, ambulance overhead fresh air fans, it has a correct barndoor steering wheel with correct wolfsburg castle  horn button for a deluxe bus.

   This a very unique bus that was rebuilt paying extreme attention to detail .
The body is extremely nice, was taken to bare metal when the restoration began ,then resprayed with volkswagen colors of the 50's era including black for the top and a sealing wax red "like " color below the belt line.   The floors both front and rear are very straight dry and solid...

    This gem has been completed as shown in the pictures using the best parts available, all of them german, nos or reconditioned original to make this a show winner including but not limited to:

* Original pressed bumpers

* all new rubber seals all around including windshields , doors ,side windows,engine bay...all rubber new!
* Ambulance fans in working condition
* 36hp engine
* Bubble taillights german hella original

* Original large logo SEKURIT glass
* European spec symmetrically fluted  Barndoor headlights
* Original reflectors

* Behr Roof Scoop

* Correct 6 volt electric system including new 6v battery , head light, tail lights,interior lights,semaphors and windshied wipers,
original Bakelite dome lights.

   The bus got a very good Mechanicall gone thru during the restoration process,including electrical , rebuilt brakes, rebuilt 36hp motor,  detailed front beam, 5 new bias ply tires on the original 16 inch wheels and a brand new spare tire. the restoration process was completed over a year ago so the bus has  very low miles on it.

   Interior is very clean and looks and feels factory brand new since the bus has been driven less than 200 miles since restoration was completed.
  all 3 rows of seats are done in original "style" deluxe microbus upholstery including the 6 leg middle in  excellent condition, original deluxe style interior panels, the headliner is very nice and clean made of the correct fabric corresponding to the 50's era. for the flooring there is the front rubber floor mat and we have a bus rubber floor mat for the cargo/rear passenger area ,other surfaces of the bus have german square waved carpet including rear luggage compartment.

  This Bus is nice and clean on the underside as the topside, over and under, inside and out   crash box tranny, proper 36hp engine with crank start, and many more NOS parts. All of this Kombi interior has been done correctly following the volkswagen "deluxe" microbus theme of the 1950's.

The VW Sport Coupe GTE Concept promises exciting things for brand's future [w/video]

Tue, Mar 3 2015

In recent years, it seems as though the Audi allotment of design talent from the Volkswagen Group has gotten braver, while the VW designers have become more conservative. One look at the current Volkswagen range reveals a lot of tidy sheet metal, but hardly any that rank as evocative or emotionally compelling. If the rhetoric around this Sport Coupe GTE Concept turns to action, however, VW's mass-marketed cars could become a lot more interesting to look at. Sharp creases and bold graphics can be found on just about every inch of the concept, and the large wheels at either extreme corner help to sell this as a "four-door coupe" more than most executions of that now hackneyed styling term. And, if you like what you see, then you might want to hold out for quickly approaching versions of this look on production models. Design head Walter de Silva says this language will be "shaping the immediate future" for VW product. Mechanically, the Coupe also previews more hybridization for the VW line. The concept has a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a turbo 3.0-liter V6 driving the front wheels, and an electric motor sending yet more power to the rear. You can read up on the details in our official post from a few days ago, or just click through the pretty pictures in the gallery above. SPORT COUPE CONCEPT GTE MAKES WORLD DEBUT AT THE GENEVA AUTO SHOW Four-door coupe marks beginning of a new design era at Volkswagen Wolfsburg/Geneva, March 2015 -Volkswagen will debut the Sport Coupe Concept GTE at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show, heralding a new and progressive Volkswagen design language. "Evolution and revolution come together in the Sport Coupe Concept GTE. This concept is based on Volkswagen design DNA, which has been visibly sharpened even more. It shows how the highest-volume brand of our Group is shaping the immediate future," says Walter de Silva, Head of Design of Volkswagen AG. Dr Heinz-Jakob Neusser, Volkswagen Brand Board Member for Development, elaborates: "This breathtakingly dynamic coupe is unlike any other to appear in this class. The design of the Sport Coupe Concept GTE is an impressive alternative to the classic sedans of the B and C segments-it has the style of a sport coupe that is enriched by the functionality of a large hatchback and the interior space of a sedan." Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design of the Volkswagen Brand, adds: "The Sport Coupe Concept GTE is another milestone of expressive design.

Volkswagen scores dominant 1-2-3 finish at Monte Carlo Rally

Mon, Jan 26 2015

Racing calendars change from year to year, but most series have that one race they just couldn't do without: the Monaco Grand Prix for F1, Le Mans for endurance racing, Dakar for rally raid, the Indianapolis 500 for Indy, the Daytona 500 for NASCAR... and for the World Rally Championship, it's the Monte Carlo Rally. Winning the Monte brings with it its own measure of bragging rights, but locking out the podium is another story altogether. And that's just what Volkswagen did this weekend on the Cote d'Azur. The hard-fought season-opener saw nine-time world champion (and seven-time Monte Carlo Rally winner) Sebastien Loeb return with Citroen, but ultimately it was the VW team that won – and won big, taking a commanding 1-2-3 finish. Sebastien Ogier (with Julien Ingrassia) finished first, followed by Jari-Matti Latvala (with Miika Anttila) in second and Andreas Mikkelsen (with Ola Floene) in third, all of them in the Volkswagen Polo R WRC that was just updated in time for the start of the season. The rally passed right through the Forest Saint Julien where Ogier was born, and at the end of it all, Mikkelsen walked little more than 50 steps from the Volkswagen garage to his condo at Quai Antoine 1er in Monte Carlo. It was only the second time VW has locked out the podium since hitting the scene two years ago, following the German team's 1-2-3 finish in Australia last season en route to its second consecutive world championship. This also marked the second year in a row that Ogier and VW have won the Monte, after narrowly losing out to Loeb in '03. The achievement in Monaco this weekend made VW only the fifth manufacturer to take the top three spots in the Monegasque capital: Renault-Alpine became the first in 1973, followed by Lancia (with the Stratos) in '76 and then again (with the Delta Integrale) in '89, Audi sandwiched between in '84 and Citroen with the "dream team" of Loeb, Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz in 2003. (Peugeot achieved the same in 2009, but that was when the Monte Carlo Rally had left the WRC and was run as part of the less prominent and lower-spec Intercontinental Rally Challenge.) Not even Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota or Ford - all dominant forces in their time - can claim that feat. The victory secures the Polo R WRC's place as the most dominant car in the championship, winning over 85 percent of the rallies in which it has been entered since its debut in 2003. Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates

Wed, Jul 23 2014

Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once – especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015. The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well. For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan – both long rumored to be on their way out – will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment. Meanwhile the Routan, which hasn't actually been built in over a year, is finally dead, as VW confirms it has dropped the Chrysler-built minivan from its lineup for 2015 altogether. The German automaker has also confirmed that the Touareg is getting a facelift early in the new year, which we expect will closely follow the revisions revealed a few months ago ahead of the Beijing Motor Show. Finally VW has announced an upgrade to its 2.0-liter TDI. Fitted to the Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle, the updated diesel gets 10 more horsepower with output now up to 150 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. Scope out the full list of announcements in the press release below. MODEL YEAR 2015: NEW GOLF FAMILY, REDESIGNED JETTA, AND NEW TDI® CLEAN DIESEL ENGINE HEAD THE CHANGES Jul 22, 2014 In a busy year, Volkswagen will also add a new Golf SportWagen, an all-new Golf R, a redesigned Touareg SUV, and the company's first U.S.-market EV, the e-Golf - All-new Golf is bigger, lighter, and more fuel-efficient than the previous model, seats five, and has a larger trunk than any midsize sedan - New Golf GTI has 210-horsepower engine, with improved fuel efficiency and performance - e-Golf is Volkswagen's first full Battery Electric Vehicle for sale in the U.S.
