Vw Bus Double Cab 1964 Volkswagon (crew Cab) on 2040-cars
Shakopee, Minnesota, United States
1964 Double cab. - 1600 Dual Port built by Jeff Wilson at Mears Metal Products (http://www.mearsracing.com/) with less than 1500 miles since he built the motor. This bus is mechanically sound and goes down the road. - Original Canvas structure included for the coverd wagon look (Canvas is long gone) which is amazing to still have this. - 85k we believe original miles as the odometer works - 12 volt conversion - Progressive Weber Carb - Tires as new - Brakes excellent - Reduction boxes sealed and do not leak - This bus drives and stops and goes down the road without issue This is my fathers and he has had this since the mid 90s. this bus is stored the last 40 years and sees less than 100 miles a year. It has been repainted on the outside and the paint is showing it's age. It photo graphs beeter than it looks in person. I do not want to say Nicest VW in city etc. because condition is relative to someones expectations. It can be seen in person in Minneapolis, MN so please understand we are making our best attempt to accurately describe this bus. The Good: - One of the best motor builders in the world is a family friend and built this engine as a favor - Mechanically Sound - Original Canvas metal frame and wooden bows - This bus even accelerates up hill and is a great driver. - Tailgate and folding sides all solid The Bad: - Paint is showing it's age (Chiping paint on drivers side where folding gate drops. Chipped paint where seat belts fall out and hit the side) - Drivers side eye window latch broken - Rubber seals around windows / doors deterating - Some corrosion underneath. it was addressed and undercoated - Canvas missing for covered wagon (You can get new canvas as the Frame and structure is included) - It was a exterior repaint in the early 80's - 1964 this is not a restored bus and will show flaws that are normal for a 50 yearold vehicle
This bus can be inspected by serious buyers, it is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime for any reason. Please understand I am not looking for advice or knowledge and would appreciate only serious inquires and not someone who is looking for a friend. The bus can be shipped overseas it has a clear Indiana title in prior owners name. It can stay for a few weeks as shipping is figured out as long as it is payed in full. Once this goes back to storage - that is where it will stay and I will wheel it out in 20 years and try again. |

Skoda racing Up! to Worthersee with Citigo Rally concept
Thu, 17 May 2012If you thought the Volkswagen Group was about to wind down the endless stream of concept cars based on the new Up! city car, think again. Because not only is the Volkswagen brand itself keeping the train a-moving, so are its sister brands.
Skoda has its own version of the Up called the Citigo. But what racing fans know the Czech subsidiary for best is its rally program that has become a dominant force in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the basis for VW's own foray into the World Rally Championship. Now Skoda is bringing the two together with an exciting concept car previewed by the rendering above and confirmed in the press release below.
Following in the footsteps of the tantalizing Fabia roadster unveiled last year, the Citigo Rally concept is to be the centerpiece of the Skoda display at the Volkswagen Group's annual hot-hatch gathering at Lake Wörthersee in Austria. Details are scarce, but the show car will feature rally-inspired bodywork complete with 18-inch white alloys packed into aggressively flared wheel arches, a substantial rear wing and vents aplenty.
Volkswagen Golf R Evo may debut at Beijing Motor Show
Thu, 23 Jan 2014If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. The Evo in its name will come from having a carbon fiber roof and CF in the bodywork, lighter wheels, thinner bucket seats up front and a roll cage instead of rear seats.
If there's a power increase, it's been described as "a small bump." However, as the report mentions, if the Jenny Craig regimen can drop 100 kilograms (220 pounds) from the the 3,247-pound weight of the European Golf R, then the Golf R Evo will do about the same damage on the scales as the Golf but have at least 50 more horsepower and 44 more pound-feet of torque.
Since we still don't have the current Golf, this isn't something that should keep you awake even if the 'concept' does become a production model. But it is good to know that the Golf R is really going to start pushing its boundaries.
Help a couple drive their 1984 Vanagon around the world
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Meet Brad, Sheena and Nacho
Driving through China is a pricey proposition. The couple will need to pony up a staggering $19,514 just to cover the fees.
Brad and Sheena Van Orden are in the midst of a life-defining campaign to travel around the world, and they're doing it in a 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon custom built for the occasion. The past 15 months have seen the couple quit their jobs with Gore-Tex and drive from Arizona to the very southern tip of Argentina after spending a full two years saving and preparing for the trek. Now they're in southern Asia gearing up for the next leg of their journey.
