1990 Volkswagen Westfalia Very Nice Condition. This Westfalia was sold new here in the San Diego area so there is No Rust or corrosion. This is a beautiful Westfalia thats been in storeage for quite a few years and I finally got it out and ready for sale. I've had over 70 Westfalias and have restored many VW bugs, vans and more, so I do have alot of experience with Westfalias. I've camped coast to coast and from Mexico to Alaska. I really enjoy working with VWs and especially the Westfalia. If you have had a Westfalia, you know what I'm talking about, the love. Many nights I go out and just sit in my Westfalia, have a beer, relax, listen to music, and just fool around with it. This is the multivan version of the Westfalia so it does not have the stove or refrigerator. I actually prefer this version because most people find they never use the stove or refrigerator, and they are really outdated as well. In about 90% of the full campers I get, the stove, refrigerator and sink look like New. You know why they always look like new, nobody ever uses that stuff. What you Will use is the bed, and it is much larger in this version because it extends into where the stove and frig would be. There are much better refrigerator options such as Frigfreeze and Norco that can be removed when you are not using it - which is most of the time. Check with GO-Westy, they sell a pretty cool frig too, no pun intended. Now for the stove, the first time I cooked in a Westfalia was on a fishing trip 22 years ago, never again ! it smelled like hell for weeks from the smoke and splattered food. You want to cook outside !.. Get a little folding picnic table and a portable propane stove. Anyway.. I just put over 300 hours and thousands of dollars into this Westfalia to make it dependable, and give it a little bit of a custom look. I just installed a new poptop canvas with the three window option, much nicer and heavier duty than the original and much better air flow. I had the top painted to match the body color because I never liked the color the factory used on the poptops, looked odd to me, almost kind of pink. I put on new Westfalia decals front and rear and that sure makes the top look nice. I also installed a new sunroof vent in the top with a new seal and a new mechanism to raise and lower the vent - sunroof. I installed new carpet from "Sewfine Interior Products" very nice carpet. I took the covers off all the bed cushions, and took all the curtains and washed them twice, so they are very nice and clean. I've really detailed the interior as you can see in the pictures. The storeage areas are very clean, all the ashtrays cleaned, I replaced all the cupholders with new ones, rescreened the screens, threshold has been redone, restuffed the front seats, cleaned the headliner, and so much more, even the glove box looks like new inside. Now on the outside, the paint looks very good but does have normal wear - minor scratches and door dings, but very nice for a 23 year old vehicle. Take a look at the paint, you want to know why it looks so good ? I wet sanded the entire body with 2000 grit and then buffed it with Meguiar's Mirror Glaze 95. Then I touched up all the chips and waxed it all out with Zymol, that really gives it the car show shine. All that work took over 50 hours, but how do you like the results. I painted all of the door handles and replaced the seals too. I restored the front grilles and even put a new VW emblem in. I also removed the headlights and cleaned out the lenses, see how bright and shiny they look, much better for seeing at night. I replaced the windshield rubber, painted the wiper arms and replaced all the the wiper blades. This Westfalia has a nice AM/FM CD player, and I installed a new antenna too. I've really done alot of work on this Westfalia, from buffing the paint to installing new shocks on the deck lid to putting on new tires. I also had the stock alloy wheels polished out and then painted the center wheel windows silver. I've done this to many sets of wheels and I really like the look. When I got this Westfalia years ago the motor was shot. I just installed a factory rebuilt engine from another van that had about 40,000 miles on it, and this engine does not leak A Drop of oil ! I have to say this Westfalia runs Great !.. This thing starts right up when cold and idles down in about one minute like it should. It just runs and drives great !.. It's so funny, everywhere I go people love this van, it really makes people smile. You just don't see many of these on the road anymore. These Westfalias are a good investment compared to other cars for sale. There is not another vehicle produced after 1981 that has held its value as well as a Westfalia, and these will continue to do so. Looking for a extra nice Westfalia, here you go. If you are interested in this Westfalia please don't email me, give me a call at 619 925-3174 so we can talk, I'm sure we can work out a deal on this Westfalia. 10 emails can be reduced to 1 conversation. Thanks, Jim..

Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
Skoda's next concept is a 300-mile electric SUV
Wed, Mar 29 2017If you thought Volkswagen wasn't serious about electric vehicles, think again. Its subsidiary Skoda will reveal an electric SUV concept called the Vision E at the Shanghai auto show in a few weeks. Not only is it the fourth all-electric concept shown by the VW group (following the I.D., I.D. Buzz, and Sedric), but it previews the electrified future of Skoda, which announced that it will have five pure EVs in its lineup by 2025. The Vision E is just as impressive as the company's electric ambitions, too. It boasts a roughly 310-mile range on a charge, and packs a motor that makes about 300 horsepower. The car will be capable of level 3 autonomy, which will allow it to operate autonomously on highways, in stop-and-go traffic, and to find parking spaces. Its top speed isn't amazing at around 111 mph, but it isn't a sports car. Rather, it's an "SUV coupe" similar to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. As such it has a more sedan-like back. The styling is also unique with full-width headlights and foglights, and another lighting element that extends from the front fender down the doors. The only obviously Skoda styling cue is the bulge down the center of the hood. The Vision E is also similar to the X6 and GLC Coupe in other ways. Its specs are quite close to those crossovers, particularly the Mercedes. It's a few inches shorter than the GLC Coupe, but it's an inch wider. It also makes the same amount of horsepower as the entry-level X6 and outguns the Mercedes by an impressive 59 horsepower. Of course, these are figures currently only projected and hypothetical since the Vision E is a concept, but it helps us get an idea of what this vehicle is like. So far, Skoda has only released sketches of the concept. We'll have to wait until the Shanghai show to see the real thing. Related Video:
The not-Subaru crossover wagon | 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack First Drive
Fri, Sep 16 2016Funnily enough, in light of dieselgate, Volkswagen is one of the few brands (along with Volvo and Subaru) to preserve the notion that you don't need a fuel-sucking SUV to meet your life-carrying needs. And, yes, VW's history of addressing off-road desires with all-wheel-drive dates to the mid-1980s with the Quantum Syncro (a.k.a. Passat) and Golf Country – the latter, sadly, never came stateside. The latest offering toward this effort is the 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack. What's an Alltrack? It's a slightly lifted, cladded, and butched-out version of the Golf Sportwagen (yes, formerly known as a Jetta). Not to steal Alltrack's thunder, but starting in 2017 you can also get the standard Sportwagen with 4Motion AWD, which is basically the same running gear for less money. The Alltrack starts at $26,950; the 4Motion Sportwagen starts at $24,930, both with the dual-clutch automatic available at launch. Any discussion of tall wagons brings Subaru immediately to mind, both with the Outback and the Impreza-based Crosstrek. The Volkswagen Alltrack sits between the two in size at 180.2 inches long – 5 more than the Crosstrek and 9.4 inches shorter than the Outback. The 2017 Subaru Outback starts at $25,645, and VW's comparisons focus on the Outback, which is understandable given the similar starting price. A bare-bones Crosstrek starts at $22,245, but quickly gets into Golf price overlap. The Alltrack and the 4Motion Golf Sportwagen are superior daily drivers to the Subaru, whether you're doing an emergency lane change or just trying to merge onto the interstate. Meanwhile, the Crosstrek doesn't have the refinement of the VW. Can we fault Subaru though? It's set a sales record every year in a row since 2010 and is looking at about triple the sales volume of VW's Golf for 2016. So we'll stick to telling you what we think of the Alltrack and let the dealers fight for your dollars. First thing's first. Yes, you can have the Golf Sportwagen and even the Alltrack with a manual six-speed gearbox. The seven-speed DSG automatic is very good, but it's worth noting that any manual gearbox is a rarity these days, especially when we're not talking about a two-seat sports car. You will have to wait until early 2017 for that option, but it also saves you $1,100 off both models. Second, the Alltrack and 4Motion Sportwagens get identical engines. Whether manual or DSG, VW's EA888 turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder is under the hood.
