First two owners were next door neighbors. I bought it from the second owner who was a Freightliner Factory Mechanic. He would disassemble the engine from time to time just for fun and add anything new as needed. The only thing he ever did was new gaskets and O rings on reassembly. That is all it ever needed. Engine is clean, spotless.
A/C has all new parts. Both condensors and fan replaced with all new lines. I had a custom Sanden compressor built and it only uses 4 horsepower instead of the original York which used 13 horsepower. It is a rotary. The rear sway bar is unique. Makes all the difference on the Interstate. It wont get blown around and change lanes on its own! It will run as fast as you want to run it. Fuel economy is great. Oil changes every 1000 miles. Tires are 80%. New fitted carpet. Seats, all of the interior is near factory new, as is the headliner, no tears or rips. You can drive this one from coast to coast today with nothing required. Come pick it up and drive it home. This VW lived in Central Florida, Ocala, nowhere near the coast and was always garage kept. I repainted the white top several months ago because it had a few thin paint spots on it. Blue is original paint. NO RUST WHATSOEVER ON THIS ONE! I love driving it. (Its a babe magnet) The paint shop who did the work painted the Atlanta "World of Wheels" winner a couple of years ago. It is perfect. |

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen
Tue, 05 Mar 2013In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
Last VW bus ever made arrives at final destination
Fri, 31 Jan 2014A Brazilian politician tried to save it, unsuccessfully, so the final Last Edition Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi was produced on December 20, 2013 and now resides in a vintage museum at Volkswagen's Commercial Vehicles HQ in Hanover, Germany.
The Volkswagen Microbus was built for 56 years, starting in September 1957. Brazil was the last country still assembling it, but new safety regulations in the country requiring airbags and ABS on all cars spelled the end. When that politician introduced a bill that would pardon only the 'Bus from a death sentence, it couldn't garner the required number of votes for passage. The South American country takes the Kombi production title, though, with 1.5 million of the 3.5 million total made in the home of Copacabana beach and the girl from Ipanema.
The VW Bus is dead. Now perhaps we can turn our attentions to the still-not-totally-settled matter of the Bulli...
