Your Bidding on a 2 owner Original California VW Westfalia Poptop Camper .

2nd Owner took a loan out to buy the bus on Sept.28,1988, The loan was paid off Aug.7,1989

Original Owners Manual and Campermobile Manual and Loads of paperwork including Loan docs.

The bus is Pretty Original and very straight , one small little dent on bottom of rocker where sliding door covers , and when the tire was on the nose there was a small push in on nose, this might be able to be popped out a little better by someone who knows what they are doing.

Original Upholstery in rear and up top , canvas up top looks alright but it is dry and will need to be replaced .

Some things need to be cleaned and removed but overall a real good one .

Half Original paint, other half looks like a repaint of same color . All jams through out look to be original paint.

NO Rust , very nice underneath, with exception of a little small spot starting at battery tray.

Lots of paperwork from '88 and forward, including NEW Transmission  in 2011 from Rons Transaxles at a cost of $1125 .

The bus does run and drive but has been sitting for 2 years or so and will need a mechanical service, gas gauge doesn't work, and has a oil leak after you drive it.  It was driven 30 miles or so to my warehouse.

Front end just rebuilt 2 years back at a cost of around $2500.

As always, some things that have been updated. Later front seats but they just slide right in so easy fix .

Rear linoleum on floor gone so just a piece of carpet , but you get to see Yellow paint and no rust .

Front floor mat missing , but it has a piece of carpet  .

Rear Hatch and Decklid and all of Driverside looks to be Original Paint ,Nose and around to Passenger corner has some kind of respray in original color of Marino Yellow .

All in all is a great bus to start with and make it a solid driver or a great foundation for full resto.

* License Plate doesn't go with it

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

Volkswagen breaks 40-year-old sales record in 2012

Sun, 13 Jan 2013

The last time Volkswagen moved this many vehicles in America in one year, Richard Nixon was still a President in good standing, Let It Be was a radio hit and each car wearing the VW badge boasted an air-cooled engine. That's right, with a grand total of 580,286 vehicles sold in the US last year, the VW Group has broken its own four-decades-old sales record by 2,899 vehicles.
Of that 580k total sold, 438k were Volkswagens and 139k were Audi products - increases of 35.1 percent and 18.5 percent, respectively, in year-over-year sales. The ultra-premium members of the VW group also fared well; Bentley delivered 2,315 vehicles for a 23.3-precent increase, and Lamborghini delivered 520 units for a 52.9-percent jump. Bugatti, we're told is "right on track."
Jetta (pictured) sales paced the marque with 170k models sold, and Passat also finished very strong with sales of 117k total. Tiguan also racked up its best year on file, with 31,731 models shifted.
