I have a 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon that I need to sell straightaway. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this vehicle an 8.5 to 9. EXTERIOR -- Is in excellent shape. There is one small ding on the driver side rear of the vehicle (pictured) and a very small amount of seam rust. There is NO rust around any of the windows and all window seals are very tight. All of the windows open and close easily and there is no broken or cracked glass on the vehicle. The driver's side mirror is off the vehicle right now. I have both the old one and the new one. Old one was not perfect. New one in box is BRAND NEW and just needs to be installed. INTERIOR -- All of the seats and the carpet are in very good shape with few stains and no tears. Considering the vehicle is almost 30 years old, this is probably the best interior on one of these vehicles that I have seen in a long time. Carpet is good but not great. All panels are very, very clean. There is one 1" tear on the driver side of the vehicle near the second row passenger seat. All of the exterior lights work and the tires are in great shape. Lift gate and sliding door work perfectly. ENGINE / ELECTRICAL -- Engine generally runs very strong but is running a bit rough right now and I am not sure why. The panel below the steering column is off right now and again, I am not sure why. Regardless, anyone looking for a VW Vanagon knows how simple these vehicles are to diagnose / repair / operate. 2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring
Wed, 22 May 2013The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."
