ALL DOORS CLOSE AND SEAL UP NICELY AND FRONT WINDOWS ROLL UP TIGHT WITH NO WIND NOISES. ALL EXTERIOR LIGHT LENSES AND SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, POP TOP ROOF AND ROOF RACK RECEIVED NEW SEALS, WOOD SLATS AND CANVAS POP TOP TENT. THE ROOF OPENS AND CLOSES PROPERLY AND IS HELD DOWN TIGHT WITH NEW REPLACEMENT HOLD DOWNS ON THE INTERIOR AS ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED. THE ENGINE IS A VERY STRONG RUNNING SINGLE PORT 1600 WITH A PROGRESSIVE CARBURATER TO HELP KEEP UP WITH MODERN DAY TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE IS SOLID AND RUNS BEAUTIFULLY. THE TRANSMISION WORKS AS IT SHOULD WITH OUT NOISES OR ISSUES. THE TIRES ARE NEAR NEW WITH LOTS OF TREAD AND THE CLUTCH AND THROW OUT BEARING HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN EXTENSIVELY GONE THROUGH WITH... Volkswagen Golf R Evo may debut at Beijing Motor Show
Thu, 23 Jan 2014If a report in Auto Express is correct, a lighter, faster brother to the Volkswagen Golf R will be shown to the world at the Beijing Motor Show in April. Said to be called the Golf R Evo, the even harder hot hatch would be unveiled as one of those concepts that's practically a de facto presentation of the genuine thing. The Evo in its name will come from having a carbon fiber roof and CF in the bodywork, lighter wheels, thinner bucket seats up front and a roll cage instead of rear seats.
If there's a power increase, it's been described as "a small bump." However, as the report mentions, if the Jenny Craig regimen can drop 100 kilograms (220 pounds) from the the 3,247-pound weight of the European Golf R, then the Golf R Evo will do about the same damage on the scales as the Golf but have at least 50 more horsepower and 44 more pound-feet of torque.
Since we still don't have the current Golf, this isn't something that should keep you awake even if the 'concept' does become a production model. But it is good to know that the Golf R is really going to start pushing its boundaries.
VW LogBox and Race App performance data logger for R models [w/video]
Tue, Dec 30 2014Now that it's got a 300-horsepower Golf R to brag about, Volkswagen wants you to be able to brag about it accurately with the LogBox and Race App performance data logging combo. Plug the LogBox into your VW's OBD II port and it sends data over BlueTooth to the Race App, measuring variables like acceleration, distance, G-force and engine performance. If you're on a circuit, it uses Google Maps to make a map of the track, and you can record live video in-app to match with the data. Volkswagen says the LogBox will be available for R models and "a range of further Volkswagen cars," so you'll want to hit up your dealer with questions before ordering. It's available from the VW accessories store for 299 euros ($365 US), but right now the free app is only available in German, in the German-language iTunes and Google Play store. We imagine that will be corrected shortly; in the meantime, the video can show you how it works. New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
