Up for sale is a one-of-a-kind 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon GL in great shape. Here's a breakdown by system on the van:

Exterior

The van has been recently repainted to its original blue.
Safari rack with side ladder on top is in great condition.
The weather stripping around the doors and windows has all been replaced.
No rust at all on any of the body or the underside of the vehicle.
One scratch in front of driver's side rear wheel.

Interior

Rear seat folds down to a queen-sized bed.
Pioneer CD player.
Push-button ignition.
All interior lights are working.
Smoke-free.
Original A/C system has been removed.
Some stains on the original carpet, currently covered with floor mats.

Engine

Has been rebuilt, doesn't leak oil.
New power steering pump, lines, belt & reservoir.
New spark plugs, oil filter & air filter.

Transmission

4 speed manual transmission from a Syncro, including granny gear.
Recently rebuilt front shifter.

Brakes and Suspension

New shoes and pads all-around 3000 miles ago.
Parking brake cable needs to be adjusted.
Suspension in good shape. Van rides great.

All four tires look new and have great tread left.
Spare tire is in good shape and comes on a Syncro rim.

Electronics

Power locks and windows all work great.
Cruise control has been removed.

I've enjoyed owning this van but must now sell for financial reasons. The van has never given me the slightest bit of trouble. It always starts right up and runs like a top. The van is perfect for any road-trip and handles highway speeds with ease. I hate to see it go but I know it will delight its new owners.

Volkswagen Multivan Alltrack Concept takes the luxury van life off road

Volkswagen dug into its commercial vehicle fleet for its latest Geneva Motor Show concept, blending the versatile body of the T5 MultiVan with a luxuriously appointed interior, 4Motion all-wheel drive and a thrifty diesel powertrain.
That 177-horsepower diesel engine routes its power to the AWD system through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Based on that alone, we'd expect the Multivan Alltrack's behind-the-wheel experience to be somewhat familiar. That all-wheel-drive system and van body contribute to the 21-degree approach and 15-degree departure angles of this soft-roading MultiVan.
What wouldn't be familiar is its exquisite cabin. Volkswagen opted for a nautical theme for the concept's interior, featuring grey-blue leather seats from Poltrona Frau and a floor finished in real wood. The dark wood trim can also be found throughout the interior, running below the windows and on the dash.

VW boss confirms Subaru-aping Golf Alltrack for US

Subaru needs to watch out, because the Japanese brand with a utilitarian image has a big bull's eye on its back. Not only is Acura considering going 100-percent all-wheel drive in a bid to mimic the successful automaker, Volkswagen has just confirmed that the Golf Alltrack is coming to the US as another competitor for Subaru's popular Outback crossover. Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has confirmed the addition of the higher-riding, all-wheel drive version of the Golf SportWagen to Automotive News, indicating that the model will arrive in the US in 2016. "That's what our dealers, our customers, are asking us for," he said to the industry publication. The Golf Alltrack, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in early October, has an extra 0.75 inches of ride height and protective black cladding all the way around. Its biggest mechanical differentiator from other Golfs is its Haldex all-wheel drive system, a setup that can completely unhook from the rear axle when not needed to save fuel. In Europe, the Alltrack is available with a turbocharged 1.8-liter with 178 horsepower and two diesels offering between 109hp and 182 hp. However, Horn made no mention of likely powertrains for the US. Horn tells Automotive News that all-wheel drive tooling is currently being installed at the Puebla, Mexico, factory where the standard Golf Sportwagen is built. VW might have tipped its hand about this possibility several months ago when press shots of the wagon were released for the US with TDI and 4Motion badges. Horn says he expects even the front-wheel drive version to be a sales hit here, suggesting it may eventually account for 50 percent of the Golf range's volume.
