1989 Volkswagen Vanagon Gl Standard Passenger Van 3-door 2.1l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Selling blue 1989 VW Vanagon with automatic transmission. Car drives great; it is not fast, but it it starts, runs, turns and brakes very well. On the body, there's very little rust except what's just starting below rear window; a crack on the bumper and a tiny ding on the rear wheel well. The color is faded in spots on the back half; I think a previous owner had a sign painted on it that was removed improperly. Cloth interior is a little dingy from age, but clean with no rips or cracks; the van seats 7 and the third row folds down into a double bed. I've had a couple of major problems fixed, including the installation of a new gas tank; there are still couple of small leaks that may or may not need to be addressed, but overall it is a strong runner with a very solid body. I also gave it brand-new tires and a new battery when I bought it in 2011, and have put less than 3,000 miles on it since. It gets about 20 MPG — not bad for a van! A new job means I have less time to travel, so I'm selling it.

European new car sales drop nearly 8% in first half of 2019
Thu, Jul 18 2019PARIS — European car sales dropped 7.9% in June, led by bigger declines for Nissan, Volvo and Fiat Chrysler (FCA), according to industry data published on Wednesday. Registrations fell to 1.49 million cars last month from 1.62 million a year earlier across the European Union and EFTA countries, the Brussels-based Association of European Carmakers said in a statement. Calendar effects resulted in two fewer sales days in most markets, accentuating the decline. Registrations for the first half closed 3.1% lower, ACEA said. For European carmakers, weakening demand at home compounds the pressure from a sharper contraction in China and emerging markets that may yet bring more profit warnings. NissanÂ’s aging model lineup contributed to a 26.6% June sales slump while Volvo Cars, owned by ChinaÂ’s Geely, saw deliveries tumble 21.7%. Registrations also fell 13.5% last month at FCA, 10.1% at BMW, 9.6% at Volkswagen Group and 8.2% for both Mercedes parent Daimler and FranceÂ’s PSA Group. The Peugeot makerÂ’s domestic rival Renault suffered less, posting a 3.9% decline. By the Numbers BMW Chrysler Fiat Nissan Volkswagen Volvo Peugeot Renault
VW promises 7-seat CUV for America in 2016
Mon, 13 Jan 2014On the eve of the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen chief executive Martin Winterkorn has confirmed the imminent arrival of a new crossover. The model, previewed at the same show last year by the CrossBlue concept pictured here, will be unique to the North American market when it arrives here in 2016. The new three-row, seven-seat crossover is part of an ambitious expansion plan on the part of Volkswagen and Audi in North America, where the two brands aim to sell a million vehicles by 2018.
That's a mighty big increase over the 600,000 vehicles which the Volkswagen Group sold here last year, but it's moving in the right direction: That number is already a 100-percent increase of what it sold here just five years ago. At that rate, VW should have little trouble meeting its goals, particularly with the arrival of the new crossover and the introduction of Golf production at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico.
