1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Campmobile Van Camper 3-door 2.1l on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
I can't believe the day has come that I am posting my van for sale. And if you are looking for one, I hope you have found this.
I am selling my 1987 volkswagen vanagon gl westfalia camper van! I don't know where to begin with this and hopefully you know a thing or two about these vans. This van is the ultimate adventure/camping/recreational vehicle. It is a 4 speed manual van. It has a sink, a stove, and a fridge. It has two beds (pop top), many different closets and compartments, and an incredible sound system. Etc Etc Etc. There is too much to write about. I am the second owner of this van. I bought it from the lady who used to sell me donuts as a kid. Her husband passed away and the van was never used, so my family and I offered to buy it. I bought it with 60,000 miles on it, and it now has 151,400. I have loved this van dearly for the last ten years, and I almost can't believe I'm putting it up for sale. I have traveled all over north america in my van. Many, many camping adventures, countless festivals, tailgates, and even provided me with a place to live on a few different occasions. This van is full of unlimited potential, and it really can change your life. Or at least add to it. I moved a few years ago and registered the van non-op and stored it for 2 years. Since then I have moved back re-registered it, currently registered until sept 2015, and with many hopes of doing more camps and adventures, I have not. With a change in jobs (location) the van has turned into my daily driver. I put the last 50k miles on it without any big trips. And that is not what this van is made for. And with not sight of adventures in the near future, I decided its time to sell it. I want to sell it to someone who will put it to it's proper use. A most importantly, a great loving home. I have cherished this van and treated it very well. The first thing you will notice is how well it drives. It is a very smooth car and it will put a smile on your (and others) face. You will also notice the sound system. I have a sony deck, and all new speakers, and an 8" powered subwoofer under the rear seat. Any type of music you listen to sounds incredible! You can also plug a dvd player into the deck and have full surround sound as you lay in bed. I would love for you to take a drive and see how great this van is. Over the last ten years I have obviously done some work to this van. And you should assume you will too. Last thing I did was replace the steering rack (3 weeks ago), the power steering is smooth as silk now. When registering after non-op I replaced the catalytic converter, new muffler, and had an overall tune up. All work has been done by the fantastic people at Tassi Inc here in Daly City. It also passes smog with no problems. The things you will look at replacing or fixing soon depends on your priorities and plans. As of April, the passenger side power window motor went out. (for the second time!) But this is not bad news. I would highly recommend changing to manual windows. For one, the motors go out, but most importantly, when you are camping or anything, it becomes a huge hassle to get keys, turn on van, then roll a window up/down. I can replace this if it is a big selling point. There has almost always been some type of oil or coolant leak, but nothing that ever raised any red flags. There is a small crack in the head that I've just been "gluing" the seals and consistently adding more coolant/oil. If you are planning on a big trip, or running the van pretty hot, I would replace the head. If you replace it, you might as well do the clutch at the same time to save on labor. The clutch is fine now, but I replaced it about 7 years ago, so it wouldn't hurt. There is normal wear and tear, scratches and what not, but no rust, straight body etc. If you have any questions, please email or call or text me. I would love to answer anything you want to know. I am in no hurry to sell this van, but if you are interested please let me know. I am looking for a decent price, and a good home, so if you think you want to make this incredible addition to you (or your families) life, please inquire. please call for more info and pictures! Thank you for your time. Brandon |

Volkswagen hits Gran Turismo with GTI Supersport concept [w/video]
Tue, Apr 14 2015As impressive as are the production hot hatches that Volkswagen offers based on the Golf, the German automaker cooks up even more impressive conceptual versions. Like this latest design for Gran Turismo 6. The GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo is like the GTI you can pick up at your local VW dealer, only more so. The design brings the VR6 back to the GTI, this time packing a (hypothetical) 503 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque, channeled to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. In the virtual reality of GT6, that's said to be enough to propel this digital concept to 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 186 mph. Naturally VW's designers gave the GTI Supersport concept the show to accompany the go, gracing the shape with more vents, more extreme aero, a wider stance on 20-inch wheels... the works. All that is said to give it a lower center of gravity and a power-to-weight ratio of 5.5 pounds per horsepower. Of course the GTI Supersport isn't the first hot Golf concept VW has dreamt up in recent years. There was the earlier GTI Roadster concept also revealed for the Vision Gran Turismo series, the Golf R 400 concept that may yet see production, and the bonkers GTI W12 650 concept with its mid-mounted twelve-cylinder engine. This one may never see production, but at least gamers will be able to drive it remotely on PlayStation. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Wolfsburg, 14 April 2015 Next level: Volkswagen presents new digital supercar - GTI Supersport Vision Gran Turismo excites PlayStation fans - Race car with 503 HP now available for downloading Volkswagen is expanding its GTI fleet and sending a new supercar onto the digital race circuit. The engine roaring under the bonnet of the GTI Supersport is a 503 HP VR6 TSI coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). The design of this digital supercar combines the Volkswagen icon with sheer racing design. Following last year's roadster, another version of the GTI, with its long racing tradition, can now head for the starting line on Gran Turismo®6, exclusively on PlayStation®3. The first impression of this racer already shows that the Supersport is what fans want and is designed for racing. 665 Nm of torque catapult the virtual GTI to 100 kilometers per hour from a standing start in only 3.6 seconds.
Editors' Picks March 2022 | Acura RDX, VW GLI and a Rolls-Royce
Tue, Apr 5 2022This month's Editors' Picks offer a little something at every budget. We call out a performance car as cheap as the Volkswagen GLI, but the Rolls-Royce Ghost also manages to make its way on to the list. Of course, very few folks can afford a Ghost, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an engineering master class. In addition to these options, we also dive into the compact luxury SUV market, one that is bursting with choices. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Acura RDX Quick take: The RDX ticks a lot of boxes for a great price. It drives better than expected, offers excellent tech, has plenty of room and even looks the part. Score: 7.0 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX50, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Genesis GV70, Porsche Macan, Jaguar F-Pace, Lincoln Corsair Pros: Value, driving dynamics, space Cons: Infotainment is polarizing, midgrade interior From the editors Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "The RDX is a bit of a sleeper in this segment. It drives far better than many of its competitors, and it doesn't let you down in any particular area. If you were thinking of buying an entry-level option from one of the Germans, make sure you take the RDX into account, because you'll likely end up with more tech and features for an even lower price. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Acura RDX is an impressive value in the small luxury SUV segment. It starts in the low $40,000 price range, and provides loads of standard convenience and safety features. Everything is packaged in a sharp and surprisingly spacious package, too. It's also nimble and has a punchy engine that makes it fun to drive. You may find some competitors that surpass it in some areas, but the Acura offers about the most for the money of anything in the segment." In-depth analysis: 2022 Acura RDX Review | Value-packed and surprisingly sporty  2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Quick take: The GLI offers excellent driving dynamics and great styling for someone who doesn't want a hatchback. It's pricey, but it's worth it.
