You are bidding on a 1983 water-cooled Vanagon L.
I'm the third owner of this van originally from Florida. Previous owner says motor was rebuilt with aprox 15XXX miles on it. I can't put my word on this, but it's evident the motor has been removed from tranny. I have, however, replaced head gaskets. When doing such, inside of motor was extremely clean. Headers have very minute carbon buildup, rings looked new, rods were straight, etc. '05: clutch plane, 02 sensor, temp sensor, coil '07: front rotors, calipers, slave cyl '08: rear cv axle, ign wires, injection cleaning, fuel pump '09: starter '10: fuel filter, water pump, thermostat, intake gasket, alternator '13: head gasket, plugs, dizzy cap, rotor, valves, injector o-rings, static timing, battery Carpet and canvas have been pulled, but I have laminate flooring for it. It has very little surface rust with a bit eaten through at rockers. There is a small exhaust leak at connection/linkage. Runs, shifts, stops well. The cooling system needs to be flushed, and for that reason it will need to be towed. Has trailer hitch, stove, sink, cabinets, storage. Of the many campers I've owned, I have never used propane equipment. But, it is all in tact. Has aftermarket AC with all lines front to back, but there is no unit in engine compartment. Buyer will be responsible for pickup. It is on the market locally. If it sells locally, this listing will be removed. If you are local and would like to make an offer, feel free to get in touch. I'm open to any questions. Please e-mail prior to bidding with any concerns. |

Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal
Wed, 13 Feb 2013The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.
VW midsize crossover production headed for Chattanooga
Fri, 10 Jan 2014Potential labor woes aside, it looks like Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN factory must have done something that impressed the bosses in Germany, because it sounds like the three-year-old factory is set to score a second model.
The factory currently builds the Passat, and has been in the running alongside VW's Puebla, Mexico factory to build a new crossover vehicle, likely based on the CrossBlue Concept. According to Bloomberg, a pair of unnamed sources have confirmed that Chattanooga is the favorite ahead of an official announcement.
When last we heard about the CrossBlue Concept, word was that a production decision had been delayed over concerns about the three-row CUV's business case. That August 2013 story claimed that a decision regarding the CrossBlue would be pushed back until early in 2014, which means we're ripe for some sort of news, whether good or bad.
Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva
Sat, 02 Mar 2013With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.
